Since the Age of Enlightenment, every advance in scientific understanding has been embraced (and exploited) as a 'force for good' in the human condition...
Now that Climate Science begins to approach 'respectability', why do so many people adopt a kind of religious fervour in opposition?
TruckerT
Most are more pragmatic, do you think that hundreds of millions of chinese and indians are going to forego such things as cars when they can afford them?
As far as religious ferver goes, it is the proponents of climate change that refer to those that do not hold their views as deniers.0 -
As opposed to the religious fervour of climate change alarmism.
Prove that man is changing the climate. And I mean prove, not compare scepticism to AIDs deniers.
'Science' is entirely about 'Proof' - show me a scientist who will deny that climate change is taking place
'The Church' has recently begun to give up on fundamentalism, and, these days, the Archbishops mostly address political issues, mainly surrounding social inequality
There will be no inequalities in the effects of climate change - check out the recent floods in Thailand etc - in previous ice ages etc, human society did not exist, and it is pointless to try to relate those earlier episodes to 21st century pre-occupations with such irrelevancies as house prices etc

No proof then. Thought so. And you're quite happy to pay higher taxes and increased energy bills on the basis of what a cabal of fraudulent "scientists" tell you?
Ahem....don't mention climategate.
The proof exists
Can you prove the fraudulence of the scientists whom you choose not to believe?

Do you mean can we stop climate change?
Of course we can't stop climate change - that's what makes it so terrifying!
TruckerT
No point in worrying about it then.
If you think it's going to get hotter, buy aircon.
If you think it's going to get colder, buy a bigger coat and some winter tyres.
I've just solved the problem. Can I have my Nobel prize please.0 -

In order to buy things, you need money - unfortunately, all the money has been given to the banks
