Can I join the MFW 2012 thread please? Think I posted this somewhere else a few mins ago in the wrong place! Oops!
I am a single mum to two little girls (3yrs and 1yrs) and this time last year, was in a position to lose my house when my bf of 11yrs decided to leave me. My brother stepped in and we are now the joint owners and determined to overpay on the mortgage and get rid of it by the time I am 40 (April 2021).
As it stands today, the mortgage is £164,798.64 and the house is worth about £230,000.
Overpayments in January are £500 (that is the most we can overpay without incurring a charge), so our overpayment plan is £6,000 for 2012 with a large sum of £10,000 (£5,000 each) when our fixed rate is up in April 2013.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Trills - your update has also gone in. Nearly £3000 for the month!
p.s. We are slowly heading towards an aggregate OP target of £1,000,000. Everyone with an OP aim this year is still welcome to join!0 -

That's good news starflame! well done!
I've just applied to switch mortgage when my current HSBC rate ends in Feb. It was so easy - am staying with HSBC. Just did a few bits online and done! No fees either. I'm not mortgage free, but the deal I've got means I'll be paying less than I was expecting so I can OP a bit more than I expected too!:D0
