Hope you've all had a merry Christmas.
I've been doing some calculations(again) as I suddenly thought my target of £11750 is nearly £1000 a month...Now, as I expect the absolute maximum I can save in any month is £800, (and that will be rare), with a fair wind behind me and nothing unexpected jumping out of the woodwork to bite me on the bum, I can only think that I thought 2012 would have more than the standard 12 months in it. WHAT WAS I THINKING??
Hmmm...to change the target or not to change? that is the question. Do I start the year with a guaranteed failure or do I challenge myself, my ingenuity, my piggy bank (pennies only) and put the cats on starvation rations (as well as myself).....??
Do I start by NOT visiting the sales tomorrow....?? Gulp! What actually do I NEED?? Perhaps I start by losing some weight so I can fit into the practically brand new clothes I already have hanging in the wardrobe?
I can't see how, even living more frugally than I do, I can save £11750, but I've decided to give it a whirl. If I fail, so what?...I'll aim to get closer to that than the £8200 that seems to be achievable on paper anyway.
So, after much cogitation, and even some thinking...I'll keep my target at £11,750. It will be interesting (to me anyway) to see how far I get...
Thanks for reading...all frugal suggestions welcomed! I'm already scanning the OS boards and in the grocery challenge etc etc, but if there's a way to use my neighbour's electrickery, and if anyone can teach me how to syphon diesel from car tanks under cover of darkness, I'll be very grateful :rotfl:0 -
Evening LavenderBees, I would definitely stick with the higher target. This will almost certainly focus the mind more on not spending. Not sure about leccy and car fuel, but if my Dad had still been alive, he would have laughed. Best wishes Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Hello and welcome new 2012 MFW no 96! :jYou have been added to the list and we look forward to seeing your updates throughout the year0 -
I want to join this one. I Have about £113000 still to pay and my rate is 4.9% but the period is up in august and should drop my montly payment by £100. I will keep the payments the same and that will mean I should overpay atleast £400 this year and £1200 everyyear without noticing it!
Just need to get started! i'll have to read all the diaries and get organised0 -

I'll PM you :rotfl:;):rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
