We've done it, Mortgage Free, 5 days before target. Just to complete the picture, took out £89000 in Mar 2007 and now own every brick and tile. It feels so good, thank you all for the support and guidance on this thread. The motivational stories of other posters on this thread have been inspirational. Thanks :):):)

Many thanks, it has been hard work with some sacrifice along the way. I don't think you truly believe you'll get there but when you do the feeling is awesome.

Good luck to those pursuing their dream of MF, it is worth it.

Just cancelled the Direct Debit on online banking, that felt good:j:j:j

Starflame: Lol at the 10 years, our problem was moving twice so we had a few steps backward.

£3800, you are so close, if like me you can take a well earned break from pouring over the spreadsheets:D:D

Aye, but I'm twenty sumfink years older than you, don't have a social life and I do look like a scruffy little tramp woman ;) (Yes, I've been reading your diary...do you know me?:rotfl:)

Haha, you just made me laugh out loud like a lunatic!

I didn't think anyone would actually read my diary, it was purely for my day to day musings as well as somewhere to put all my mortgage free thoughts in one place!!!

I would have thought age wouldn't make that much of a difference, if anything i imagined it would be more difficult to pay a mortgage off the older you are and the more responsibilities you may have! Usually there's children involved as you get older which are expensive, there's usually a compulsory car too which eats all finances.

I suppose the difference is i'm living off one wage. I do have a lodger though.

Until my wage increases i'm not going to be able to overpay £1000 a month though. Maybe one day when i'm richer!
