They did charge us £200 admin fee for this. Is this the same as an exit fee?

told my daughters E. phoned C&g £115 in the post couldnt find roll number for Halifax so have to write in. S doing hers later. Martin has so far saved this family inc bank charges £8000.:money: he is the best.

Not sure if the same thing but I did not have any roll numbers or whatever but they still found me. This was from 2003.
  • Just rang the Halifax, asked for my fees back. Answered a few security questions and was offered £100.00. No fuss, no negotiating! It was so easy.
    Thanks Martin.
  • I have successfully claimed £160 from Abbey for a MEAF overcharge.

I changed my mortagage from Abbey to Nationwide 2 years ago. When I took out the Abbey Mortgage in 1999 I was advised the Deed Handling Fee was £65 but I was charged £225 in 2005.

By chance I saw the TV programme and checked my paperwork. The Abbey made me fill out a simple form and post it back. After 2 weeks I got my cheque for £160. What a result.

Thank You Martin Lewis. I have advised all my collegues who have recently moved mortgages to check their records and also subscribed to the Free Newsletter.

Its so easy to claim the money back - Just follow the advice from Martin.

Paid off my mortgage back in 2004 with C&G, was charged £100.

I kept the paperwork from back in 1992 at start of loan - sealing fee was £30!

Used your template letter and got a cheque for £84.27 this week!

    Many thanks Martin!

Abbey seems to pretty bad at this sort of thing.

I've heard of them using delay tactics, like transfering you to different people in different departments, and they will send out a form that you have to post back rather than dealing with it all on the phone. I guess they need a paper trail, but maybe this extra messing about will mean a few customers forget, or make a mistake that could save them money.

Pretty harsh, plenty of people have received and returned this form, then received their refund with no great problems
