Wireless Router Needed For NTL 2 MB Broadband

If you look at any site with reviews of any brand of kit, you'll find loads of complaints, because people tend to air their gripes more than their praise. There's loads of 5 star reviews on amazon, so I suspect the gripers were having general problems that apply to all wireless routers, that aren't configured correctly, rather than issues with this specific model.
This is the latest version, look at the reviews, lots of 5 thumbs up, and I can recommend the supplier, stuff usually comes next day, no hassle..

Amazon either sell really old kit, or have really old pictures, the one in your link looks like the (3-4yr) old silver version which is twice as big. The newer ones are white, and half the size.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Hi hotuk,
I'm with telewest (blueyonder) and wanted to set up wireless in the house. I don't use the WGR614 router. I use a netgear WGT624 router which was recommended to me by telewest via their blueyonder wireless section on the website, however they do now recommend the WGR614 on their website.
Just had a read of some reviews, more so out of curiousity than problems, and like the WGR614 router it has mixed reviews.
I can say that I have had no problems at all with my router. It was easy to set up and I was up an running in half hour. Prior to installation of this I had not previously set up a wireless router/network at all. On the netgear website there is a form you can download that tells you all the info you need before you get started, ie gateway address, IP address, etc.
I'm really quite impressed with it, so much so that I've just bought a 2nd one for use at my father's house.
Hope this helps and is of use.

Hi!
Amongst other things I have run a development and support team for my companys remote access systems (i.e. systems that allow people to work at home / away from the office.) We supply / recommend / support Netgear kit, we have very little trouble with it in general (obviously you get the odd bad unit.)
I would personally buy the Netgear router.
I hope that helps

I have a Linksys WRG54T ver. 2. I only use it with an ethernet cable but the router itself is reliable and also works wirelessly.0

Thanks for all your precious advice on this thread, I picked up the Netgear WGR614 from Argos last night and will be setting it up over the weekend.
Is it easy to enter the security codes so that others can not log into your connection?
Thanks0 -

I also have Cable Broadband with NTL Telewest, my wireless router is a Linksys WRT 54GS.
Very happy with it, easy to setup, very secure using WPA2 Personal security and easily managed using http://www.networkmagic.com0 -
