Making bath melts fuddle ;) - cocoa butter and essential oils plus a wee bit fizz and dispersant. I had to stop because its easy to get carried away and make a ton. I been on ebay ordering rose petals and lavender buds and cornflowers so will make more later in the week.
I hope the RBS thing is sorted soon as the RV is going on and on and on about it - I dono what he expects me to do. Our wee local branch was busy (5 people in lol) and two of them were saying tax credits hadn't gone in & wages hadn't gone in. The bank staff were just giving them cash anyway. If you look on the money boards some people are in a right mess because of it.

    Hello everyone

Just a quick touch base from me today - got to go out shortly to a meeting at the school for September starters - can't believe my "baby" starts school in a couple of months.

Hope all is well with everyone - will aim for a proper catch up later.

    Evie xx

PS Thank you Malcolm for the helpful info about the Eon bill - we have been on a fixed tariff but this comes to an end in September so I do need to look at alternatives. Unfortunately the bill is based on meter readings (how I wish it was just an over-estimation!) so I do need to have a think about ways to cut back on our usage, without anyone getting hypothermia in the winter!

Mar you get to have all the fun! :D Is soap making reletively simple/inexpensive?

Although I have about 50 projects going on at the minute - please don't inspire me to go off half c0cked on another :rotfl::D

    Evening all

shegar I hope hubby is doing well.

It has been another lovely day here today. After work I planted up the herb bed Mr VP has made for me - anyone know what to do with Mace? Just need to re pot the mint but have run out of compost and HM compost not ready yet.

DD1 has had a cooking lesson tonight and made a stirfry from scratch then both girls made straberry smoothies with fruit from the garden.

I have been trying the oil based skin care that was discussed a few pages back and I am impressed with the results - just using olive oil as that is what I have in, it even removed the mascara and my greasy areas seem to be less greasy.

Adding to the childhood books discussion I loved Wind in the Willows and the Waterbabies.

Softstuff I know what you mean about horlicks light especially with a teaspoon of malt extract added. and on that note I am ff to bed as need to be up early in the morning.

    Mrs VP
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Unexpected bonus from the doc changing my painkillers - the latest ones appear to suppress my appetite fairly effectively.

I've always loved my food and despite disabilities I was very active until a few years ago, which kept weight off. Weight has crept on and although I've cut back on what I eat, I am probably burning off a third of what I was. It's been very difficult to eat a third of the amount I ate previously.

So hopefully this will last and I will be able to avoid wasting pennies on 'treats' that are really junk food.

It has made me wonder what we would all do if the whole system collapsed. Did you see the idiot representative for Nat West on tv?? They have no idea what this actually means for people.

I need to think about keeping cash on me for emergencies such as this.

Softstuff, welcome back! I was just thinking about you yesterday; I can't believe a month has gone by! Sorry about the scalding.

McCulloch, sometimes the side effects of drugs are quite useful. Hope they work well for the pain too.

Well, sorry to all those suffering, but my recent visit can't be blamed for the Natwest/RBS thing.... I didn't even go near a branch. It makes me think about getting a safe installed with a few hundred in for emergencies. Having food on standby is normal for me, but it'd be nice to have some cash. I can't imagine not being able to purchase medication for example.

I've been buying big jars of that in Costco SS, its magic stuff innit :)

The damned stuff is addictive! But they don't sell it here, just the regular one. And the regular one is 6 quid for a 300g jar  I bought 2 huge jars in Morrisons to bring back and they were on special at 3 quid each. I checked the nutritional information on the UK site and there isn't much difference between the regular and the light. You're supposed to make up the regular with semi-skimmed and the light with water, so the light has a bit of skimmed milk powder in it. But nutritionally the powder is damn near the same, so when I run out I'll have to get the regular and try it with a splash of skimmed and water. I can justify the cost now I'm not allowed to consume so many other treat things.

Oooh.... pimp my horlicks! I might be inclined to try that. Trust you to find a way to improve it Mrs VP ;).

Hi Byatt good to see you :j
The scalding was my own clumsy fault, the way that I did it though (refilling a boiled kettle), I do all the time without incident, so I'm frankly surprised I've never done it before.

McCulloch, you can join my new slimming club in that case "Slimmingthroughnofaultofyourown World". I'm now a size 10 round the waist and dropping. I never thought I'd be a supermodel, but Kate Moss is now trembling in her boots. Though that could be the cold, you feel it more when you're thinner....

Thanks Softstuff - I checked where you are in the world and it is the same location as my oldest friend, originally from Cardiff. I have only ever found one person from there who knew her town - it's near Caloundra West.

I don't think I will ever be less than a size 14-16 frankly. Even when I was just 9.5 stones I had a 38" bust and 37" hips - I'm 5'9''. I have no idea how, either. This was when I was 18 - a very, very long time ago.

    Morning toughies :)

Walking up from school this morning I was chatting to my friend about my store cupboard because you just can't rely heavily on infrastructure (we were talking about the NatWest debarcle) and should push come to shove I would like to think I could muddle on through some tough times, whatever they were. She scoffed a bit, didn't get it and suggested I have an OCD. I'm not upset or anything, mainly because I once was like that... I'm just telling you because it's relevant to this thread. I'm grateful I'm 'bordering on the verge of having OCD' because one day I might jus need the fruits of my labour ;)

DH is s!!!!!!! (eeek swear filter - swan.king) it up in a 5 star hotel today/tonight/tomorrow courtesy of training from his work. The kids and I will be having egg and cress sandwiches tonight, made by them as they have been growing their own. Smallest DD wants to clean her black board and has asked can she mop her bedroom floor - she's 3, If she wants to do it I aint stopping her :rotfl:

The garden bin has been emptied this morning so I'm off to clear more space in the front garden for more useful plants. I would love some rhubarb in there. I have seeds but I don't think I can sow them yet.
