I selflessly volunteer myself to attend on your behalf. I scrub up well and I have a lovely speaking voice- just gimme the script and point me at the airport..........:p
Well, it is very kind of you to offer GQ but I couldn't possibly take you away from Nurse and there is only one ticket. Biggest problem is I haven't written the script yet- my presentation is on Wednesday:eek: And think what a party the slugs would have in your absence.
Right I'm off to th'airport. See you when i'm across the pond
(ps shhh- I bl00dy hate flying - pre flight gin here I come!)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good morning all
We've just had a very scary bill from Eon - they want to put our DD up by £50/month! It's down to gas consumption rather than electricity, so we are going to have to cut back even further, and walk round like Michelin men with lots of jumpers on come the winter.
I think I need to spend some quality time on the "Prep for Winter" thread to see what else I can do to cut back.
Evie xx
Hi Evie
Hope you don't mind me intruding on this thread but thought I might be able to offer a couple of tips about your energy usage.
Firstly, make sure we're billing to actual meter readings and not estimates. If we're estimating your usage, just give us a call with up to date readings and we'll be happy to re-bill you accurately.
Make sure you're on the tariff best suited to your circumstances. I would pop you usage in kWh (it's on your bills under 'Key Facts') on to one of the independent comparison sites. This will show all the tariffs currently available, both with us and the other suppliers. Choose the one best for you.
We may also be able to help you cut back on your usage. Have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. They specialise in helping people reduce their usage. Just give them details of your property and appliances. They'll be happy to help.
Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful tips to help you save.
Check out our website, too; particularly the energy menu and interactive house. More good tips here.
Hope this is useful Evie. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Nice to see you back on the thread, Softstuff. I was wondering if the torrential rain, floods, chilliness and general non-summeriness (is that a word?) could be attributed to your presence on your native soil.
So we can now expect some better weather......?
I would assume you're now going to get a lovely summer.... since when I arrived back here the weather turned to crap and it started raining :rotfl:
I've developed an irritating addiction to horlicks light this journey home, but they only sell the regular horlicks here, so if you guys mail me some I promise not to return to England for the rest of your summerI am always open to bribery.
Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I've been buying big jars of that in Costco SS, its magic stuff innit
Bit knackered today but going to make soap .. Nag Champa and Lemongrass today. Playing with bath melts and really enjoying meself, they are easy and fun to make. I think you should all come up here and we'll do a soap & toiletries workshop, dead cheap, fee payable in sweeties and cake

That's a lovely idea Mar, as we know I have lots of pick n mix for payment! I tried to give it to our church fete which was this saturday, but nobody got back to me by Friday lunchtime and I came back from Alton Towers to a message from them. Bit late, try not waiting 4 days to call me back!0 -
Mar what's Nag Champa?
You lot do make me laugh. I can't believe it's taking you so long to offload sweeties Poss
Just picked some mint from garden to add to hot water and then making pasta with grated cheese for lunch.
Thanks for the tips about drying washing. I'm behind. Going to have to put the light load in the tumble dryer but the dark load is going to air. I have used the tumbler twice briefly this week which is brilliant compared to about 60 minutes daily so I will have saved money.0 -
Discworld is on my mind at the moment as I just re-borrowed The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld from the library. Looking forward to dipping in and out of that in idle moments. Granny Weatherwax is my fave, closely-followed by Nanny Ogg.
Although I've seen Terry Pratchett giving a talk at the Edinburgh Festival (with Iain Banks, what are the chances of getting both of them in the same location - and be able to get tickets - these days) I hadn't read one of his books till this weekend when I read The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents. Loved it. Very witty. So, one down 37 to go?

Thank you short-bird
Mar are you making soup to eat with the scented stuff or is it a soap making thing?0
