Fuddle I have not read all your post yet but had to say you did not loose your kids their home you lost a house. Their home is wherever you and dh are even if it is a tent in the middle of a field.
I know this for a fact. I took my kids out of the epicentre of a family crisis many years ago and stayed in a tent in a field (campsite) for 6-8 weeks. They did not suffer, to them it was an adventure.0 -
:j They're up! They're UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:j
Good morning campers; if you'd been in my vacinity circa 6 am this morning you'd've heard a yelp of startlement as I went into the kitchen and saw that a darling runner bean was lifting its head from the punnet of soggy compost.
I soaked runner bean seed from Sunday to Thurs evening and planted it and was having conniptions that I'd overdone the soaking and they were rotting away underground and here they are, growing like whoopee! I'm stressing the beans a little as the slugs have been such barstewards that I lost most of the first batch and had to start again.
x
Am so pleased for you, and a handy tip about soaking the seeds never done that, and am thinking of maybe putting in a few more peas so will give them a soak for a few days before I plant..........

Does anyone have a silicone or marble rolling pin and are they better than the wooden ones? I don't like pastry so rarely roll stuff out and am pants at it but want to make wraps, pittas, etc.
I have a silicone rolling pin but I wouldn't say it rolls things out any better than a wooden one. I got it because of our catering business and silicone being more hygenic than wood, otherwise I wouldn't have changed.
Smileyt I've just had to cut my honeysuckle right back as it had pulled the trellis off the wall it was so heavy (no doubt my fault for not pruning it properly over the last couple of years) so I'd be careful about letting it grow on pipes.0 -
Kidcat, I have been trying to find a way to word this post as a bit brain foggy, but from my experience with my DD, injuries/illness/pain are always a huge issue for her. It's not that she is over exaggerating or has a lower pain threshold, but in her mind it is very real. Somehow, she can go from limping on a twisted ankle, where I am convinced she has broken it she is so upset, to walking out of the hospital perfectly ok after she has been reassured nothing is broken and she has had the attention. I think it is so difficult with auty's to know how severe an injury is. I almost cancelled a consultant's appointment for her knee thinking she was not as bad as she said, which turned out very serious as her cartilage was mush and bone rubbing against bone.
She now has metal plates and pin in her knee.
It was the same with her breast abscess, it was difficult to know if it was just a painful spot or something worse. Again, it was something worse, but it's not always the case.
I do think however, tough love is needed at times so that I reassure her but at the same time get her to be proactive and also accept some pain is normal in life. You just have to get on with it.
I think getting the balance right with your Oh must be difficult, but I also think you did the right thing by suggesting he could have auty tendencies.
My DD if she doesn't want to do something or no longer likes it, will have to her very real ilnesses or will somehow have an injury. When she was younger, it was more obvious as she would throw herself on the floor and then wail saying she had hurt her arm. Not being able to express herself emotionally, she would use physical pain.0 -
Thank you all - the understanding you have shown yet again has really helped. He has been quiet overnight and I think it may well take many more conversations before I get anywhere but I have started the journey at least.
I have added my candle too.
Fuddle - I third the extra spin too, I do a super fast spin after every wash and it really speeds the drying up.
Byatt - thats exactly it - I love the way you all get "it" better than I can express it!0 -

Wow Gailey you have been busy, girls room sounds lovely, its amazing what you can achieve. Nice to hear from you, dont know how you do it all hugs ginny
Im having a peaceful day as OH has gone for a few hours fishing. Popped to Mr A and got a pizza for me and DS to have for tea with rice salad and HM salsa. Wanted a cream cake as a treat but even the whoopised ones were £1.29 for 4 so got 5 donuts for 69p and stuck squirty cream in them - voila :T Off to do some sewing ow, have done a bit of H/w ...euch..boring :rotfl:
Smileyt, Im sure Bruno thought your chair had done something wrong as he destroyed it, you know he loves his mummy and ws just saving you from the chair monsterClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Gailey, lovely to have you back!
As for resolutions mine fell by the wayside about 2 hours into the 2012!
Ginny, what a good idea with the donuts and squirty cream. Enjoy!
Smiley, didn't Bruno wreck one of you cushions not so long ago? Our older boxer was like that. She could wreck a room in 5 minutes. Maybe Docky can have a word with him? Thanks for your support regarding my DD, I suffer from anxiety too so know how debilitating it is...
sad to say she had an emotional breakdown today, the good part about it was it was in front of her support so they are trying to put things in place plus she is having a mental health assessment tomorrow from her consultant. Amazing what can be done sometimes.
I feel dreadful for her. I just feel if she had her home with "us" still she would be so much better, but then, that's cloud cuckoo land....she's gone through so much loss in her life (she's adopted by me), that the break up of the marriage hit her hard. It hit me hard too and I was not much use for 2 years.
Life sucks at times, and the worst part is seeing the person you most love in the world being unhappy.
I lit my candle, thanks Mardy for that. I thought I had lit one, but my internet is playing up, so had to try another one!
Anyway, back to the decluttering, trying to decide do I really need umpteen plastic conatiners???0
