    Morning all

Grey, wet and windy here today too - so much for my plan to get on top of the laundry. I really must see about investing in one of those covers for my rotary line, then I won't be so easily flummoxed by bad weather.

A quiet weekend is planned here Chez Evie. Big DD has a dancing lesson later on, and then this afternoon the girls want to make a cake for DH for Father's Day. His favourite is carrot cake so I guess that will be on the menu.

Dinner will be a quick storecupboard meal of chickpeas with chorizo and new potatoes (really quick and easy, and everyone loves it so that's a bonus!).

On top of that I have the usual round of cleaning and tidying to do, and if it ever stops raining I'm hoping to get out for a walk to gather some more elderflowers to make elderflower jelly. I've never made it before but if it's nice I'll make some more and put it away for Christmas hampers. Sorry to mention the C word at this early stage, but I do like to put things by throughout the year! :p

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Evie xx

Thanks everyone - still can't believe it! :)

The weather here is awful, so don't think we'll be venturing far.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning All!

Grey wet and windy here today :( . And not a good start to the weekend - we have run out of oil:mad::mad::mad:. Those of you who were her at the back end of last year may remember we had to have our oil tank replaced. OH has been checking the level regularly and has been very pleased with himself as his miserly control of the boiler was making the oil last wonderfully well - except it obviously wasn't as we ran dry this morning. The level indicator is stuck at the same point it was when I last looked at Christmas - he can't understand why I am so cross that he did not notice it not going down :mad::mad: No delivery until Monday (could be worse) so no hot water, and we will have to bath in the cottage next door with the spiders :eek:e

Are all Oh's afflicted with an inability to actually take in information about the world around them? Lovely as he is, mine walks around in total oblivion - the house could be burning down and he would not notice!

Working tonight so dinner will be whatever has not sold - and with the weather as it is I don't think we will be busy, so that may be quite a lot!

Hope everyone has a lovely day whatever the weather!

:rotfl: at nekkid trifle. Mar I can't believe you ate 100's & 1000's. :rotfl: Was it out of sweetie desperation?

Kids have (the word when they gang up on you, can't fathom it right now) over Sainsbury's basics weetabix. They like Aldi's  So now I'm going to try to hide them in a weetabix cake. :D I've never made one so hope it's nice.

Is it the kind of thing you could eat with custard?
  • FUDDLE - save the next packet from the brand they 'like' and fill it up with whatever is cheapest - they'll never know!!!!!!!! Always worked with mine! Cheers Lyn x.

Fuddle you could try it :) We used to eat them with jam and butter on like crackers when we were kids.

SF congratulations on the job. I was too tired after my drive home yesterday to reply.

We have had three days of lovely weather. A walk in the forest on the first day, a visit to a monastery and a visit to Scarborough on the second day and games in the evenings. There were four boys and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and each others company.

I am going to try and get the game Articulate because it was fun. Also played a game called Mexican train which is a domino game with numbers up to twelve and a train twist to the game.

Have fun without the OH is your way VJsmum I could do with a bit peace myself. I don't know how much more football I can take.

Mrs Chip I hope you sell enough tonight to make it worth it. Here's hoping.

Thank you to the person who said maybe hold off making the socks. I thought it was a tad too adventurous. Having looked on ravelry and fallen hook line and sinker for the real big chunky knit scarves I stepped away because I don't need a chunky scarf. Wants and needs and all that. So I plan to make something I do need to practise first.. face and dishcloths. I'm wanting to learn K1 P1, I think it is so I'll get my practise in making something useful.

Eldest DD up in her room as she's nipped youngest DD's neck :( She must have been horrible to her sister for such a long time because that behaviour seems to ingrained. We spoke at length this morning about being nice etc and then she still went and did it. :(

Fuddle - sounds like the word you need is mutinied :rotfl:In my view most plainish cakes are good as puds with custard and they'll never know it's got the weetabix in it. You could even put a bit of jam on it and serve it for breakfast - serve the little pirates, er treasures, right :)

Windy but sunny here - no rain forecast - so obviously I'm having to wait in for a parcel delivery. Pup is not happy as we haven't been out yet - big sighs coming from under my desk.

Another plague of flies appeared this morning - just can't work out where they are coming from. Have investigated under all furniture and no smelly food leftovers hidden by pup anywhere :( Luckily they gravitate towards the windows so lots of fresh air and they are soon gone.

Free listing on ebay so will go do some of that whilst waiting.

I know I'm new to the thread, but I just have to share this with someone; I got the job I went for today! :j :j :D :j :j Finally, after a year of searching! :j :j :D

Just caught up with the thread, oh SF, I am so pleased for you. In 2001 I gave up full-time childminding to retrain as an adult education tutor and was out of work for a year, but got a job through some voluntary work that I did. One of the best days of my life - and the same day I won my beloved trike.
A joy shared is a joy doubled, thank you for telling us.

If it is going to rain until September, I might as well not bother getting my summer clothing out of storage. Seriously.

I'm sat here with three layers on plus sturdy denims and my furry Crocs. It's Olympic Torch Day here tomorrow and I suspect I'll get very wet....
