Byatt - tomorrow you could call the people you were paying and just say it's paid but you may have made a bit of a mess of it and to contact you if it doesn't go through - no need to explain more fully. And whilst the PO person may have marked the receipt as fully paid, the amount he/she keyed in was probably the amount on the cheque so that should be OK too.

Bought a large, good quality men's thick towelling robe a while ago for £2 with a view to cutting it down to fit. Never wore it last winter as the belt made me look and feel like a sack of potatoes tied in the middle. Today I removed the belt and one of the belt loops and attached a fastener that goes from the front wrapover bit to the remaining loop. Result = an unrestrictive comfortable caftan/kimono type garment with a good thick collar to keep my neck and shoulders warm - I always feel the cold there first. It's definitely going to be my winter indoor coverall - good job I live alone :rotfl:

Thanks Lizzy, she definitely keyed in the invoice amount because I remember watching her and thinking, oh she must have to enter what's on the invoice somewhere...

great work on the towelling robe!

    :hello:Good evening All :)

fuddle please don't worry about using your trolley. I've had mine a few years now and all of my friends now have them as well. If anyone says anything, (Not that I think they will), just think how empty their lives must be to have to judge someone by their bag.

    wb Katieowl and PIC :hello:

All this talk of slugs reminds of Wallace and Gromit Curse of The Wererabbit where they talk about The Great Slug Invasion of '76. Slugs the size of beachballs :rotfl: Why do slugs not eat the weeds and only eat the stuff I plant?

I've started putting green lentils into mince dishes and my fussy lot haven't said anything against it. I tried using porridge oats and really didn't like it. I have dried lentils that I cook separately so I know they have had a 10 minute boil or I keep a few tins of them in the cupboard for when I'm sort on time.

Today has been unproductive, but I did get some more hayfever meds in the hope of stopping this beeping headache and everyone has been fed. Everything else can wait or someone else can do it.

I think it's time to squirt more stuff up my nostrils and to see if I can get some sleep.

Take care and sweet dreams everyone xxx

Nah, I'm so over it. I've decided to not take it to school to start with, just walk back home and go from there. I'm not going today though as it's tipping down and I just can't face it. Coop it is for today.

I slept through! From 10pm till 6.30am. I'm sure I woke up grinning I was so pleased. :rotfl::o

My house is generally tidy so I'm having a cleaning marathon. I have to as it's really cold in here and I want to keep warm

What size should my dumplings be this evening. You told me before that they increase in size but I was wondering by how much! Do I do them the size of a meatball or a bit bigger?

I do my dumplings about the size of a satsuma if that helps?

I do my dumplings about ping pong ball size. If you have leftover stew and dumplings they both freeze well - I do mine in individual portions - good for a lunch, a solo dinner or to serve to someone who doesn't like what you are serving for a meal.

Woke up today to a plague of house flies  Opened living room curtains and there were dozens of the beggars on the window! Luckily the window opens so got it open and used a rolled up Farmfoods flyer to persuade them out. Goodness knows where they came from, but I shall be moving all the furniture in my living room to see if pup has knocked something rottable underneath.

VJsmum I think your mind and mine are sharing the same gutter. ;)

Mrs Chip would you mind sharing your daal recipe please? For some reason mine never turns out quite right and I love the stuff. I remember going out to dinner a few years ago with DH and going to an Indian Restaurant that seemed to be the place for the locals to go to soak up the alcohol they had consumed that night. I ordered daal and the waiter acted like it was the first time ever someone had. I had two different people come and ask me if I knew what daal was and if I was sure I wanted it. I then had most of the staff watching me eat it with gusto.

I don't think today has a plan. I need to think of something to make for dinner using chicken breasts that DS1 will eat and I'm not in the mood for curry which is the normal choice. I have cupboards and freezers that are full to bursting with food and still have days where I have no idea what to make. I'm tired of cooking the same things all the time, but I'm also tired of making new things and then one or two of the monsters refusing to eat it. I should use up some of the pasta, but DS1 will only occasionally eat it and then only as lasagne. Of course, being a mom I feel guilty about not cooking things he will eat. This being a Mom thing gets easier in some ways, but it's still a pain in the sit upon sometimes.

Time for me to stop whinning and to go in search of more tea.

    Take care everyone xxxx

lol VJsmum. Dumpling virgin here. I'm scared :rotfl:

Drenched, I say, drenched doing the school run. I've had to put the radiators on because I need everything dry by 11.15am to go get little one again. (I miss my car)

My elderflower seeds arrived. I'm to sow them indoors and plant them outside in the autumn. So that's on the list of do's. I have the perfect spot (when I've weeded :o) for it to grow so chuffed with that.

    Cuppa, then kitchen floor.
