Me and my bright ideas - does that come under the heading of 'Be careful what you wish for as it might just come true'? - Hoist by my own petard (or I would be if I had one) (What is a petard anyway? - wonder if its possibly to batter and deep fr

My daughter rented a house once in Northumberland (so therefore not Scottish slugs !) and went down for a drink of water in the middle of the night............
stood on something squishy and horrible................
put light on and had hysterics !!
Loads of them crawling around her kitchen carpet, HUGE big ones - we googled and found they were called Leopard Slugs or summat, the biggest kind you get.
YUKYUK and YUKK!0 -
When I first moved in to this cottage, I had slugs in the rooms, sometimes find the odd one even now...ugh...
Fuddle, don't forget to come back and tell us about your "new arrival" aka chic shopping trolley!
Feel a little better today, not great, but did go out, mainly because I needed to pick up meds and pay some bills. No extra caffeine but I do get palpitations every so often, probably stress related. Having another blood test tomorrow (fasting) so I guess anything odd will show up. Still having niggly pains in back and side.
Popped into a new CS and got a Lee Child (Jack Reacher) novel for a £1, not as good as the latest novel of his for 50p at a car boot, but still better than the original price. I was tempted by 2 glass jelly moulds, possibly vintage, but being a potential hoarder resisted the urge, thankfully.
GQ, hope your ear is getting better?0 -
Hi everyone.
I have been away for a while as I found things a little too depressing and did not want to darken the mood of everyone else. The stop smoking page was getting a little nasty but I do miss the tougher pages and all your goings on
Since I have been gone
I have paid off my credit card :j
I have paid £100 a month extra off my mortgage for a full year now :j
Stopped smoking for 20 weeks 21 on Monday
Now have three dogs

I often find slugs in the kitchen and bathroom here - no idea how they get in! I was once having a bath and picked up my sponge, was just about to dunk it then noticed a horrid big slug on it YUK!!!. I find them in the kitchen at night, leaving their vile trails. They like the quarry tile floor, then leg it up the cupboards on the the work surface.
I guess it is par for the course, living in a generally damp environment, but I really wish they would stay out!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0
