It's amazing what's out there! My pooch loves tennis balls...if she'd been a police dog I'm sure she'd have been brilliant as they get trained with (tennis) balls.
edit, love your bag Stiltwalker, they look like Mackintosh roses.0 -
See, now I'm looking on ebay for Radley bags
- actually some aren't a bad price, after looking at them new:eek: I am rather sick of cheap handbags falling apart so maybe I will invest in a decent one. I am doing some extra work soon so might use some of that payment to invest.
I am also planning to make elderflower cordial tomorrow after establishing that the bush outside our house is, indeed, elderflower. I picked off a head and sniffed - nope, couldn't smell anything. Checked it on google images and was pretty sure that it was. Waited, sniffed. Hmm what IS that smell? Not cats pee, ooh what does it remind me of? Then i realised - ELDERFLOWER :rotfl: HOnestly, if I had a brain I'd be dangerous
So new table is in place. Rather ashamed to say that old table went in a skip at the tip. No-one wanted it, it has gone in the timber recycling skip and the new one would have gone there if we hadn't had it so I guess it ended up ok. Seems a bit of a waste though. Took opportunity of having the trailer to get rid of some junk in the garage - including some childrens play equipment that also, shamefully, went in the skip. But, again, it was very brittle in parts so we daren't donate it to playgroup and is a pain to assemble. Still feel bad about that though. Am, however, very pleased with new table and we celebrated by eating our YS £4 joint of sirloin on it as our first meal - so very :money:New table cost 3 bottles of wine and some petrol!
Getting through my list of chores. Cleaned kitchen and conservatory whilst listening to Harry Potter. It's a good job there's 7 of them as I don't know how the house is going to fare when i run out :rotfl:I've already got through 2!! Could only face an hours ironing though. THat's going to take a few sessions!
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Was up in Edinburgh yesterday having the hair done (and got a free facial too from Urban Decay). I know it was Sunday, but even so it was so quiet it was scarey. Jenners has a big restaurant - and apart from me there were 6 people in it! The hair salon was empty apart from me , so was the beauty salon. A lot of the people wandering around were tourists. Wonder if that's a sign of the hard times?0

I just love my Radley bags - they are my shameful secret:T:T:TI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all!
First off GOOD LUCK TO THE EXAM TAKERS.
I detest exams and am still nursing a grudge from when I had to sit 3 O levels on one day (2 maths papers and 1 economics). Whatever were they thinking?!
I crawled off to my pit at 8.30 pm last night and slept until 04.30, then slept some more. Because of pre-existing medical conditions, any kind of infection wipes me out. I spoke a bit too soon as the ear-marble had gone down but seems to have swollen again overnight. Yeuch. The nurse who prescribed the spray anti-biotic at the walk-in clinic told me to go see my own GP if it wasn't better by Tuesday so I think that's what will be happening; might need oral anti-b on top of the topical spray. The really annoying thing is that it's in my "best" ear and I'll have a telephone headset on for a few hours today. Och well, can't be helped, minor annoyance.
Mar, you get your hair done at Jenners, how posh is that? The Harrods-of-the-North for those not familiar with wonderful Edinburgh. I was in their restaurant once, meeting a pal on a weekday afternoon as we both passed thru the city on our way elsewhere. Place was heaving, had to wait on a table.
Right, time to cudgel my brain into the game with more tea. Have a good one (I shall be wearing GoreTex again today as it is p-ing down and quite chilly). Summer daze............:pEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Long and bitter experience GQ - they always do it right so I stick with them! I always loved that shop but now its not Jenners any more, House of Fraser bought it and its not the same. But I'll still go back to get the hair done and gawp at the biggest bestest indoor xmas tree I've ever seen0

Quick pop on - re Jenner's being 'dead', (a first) my sister and brother both commented independently on how quiet the motorways have become at weekends recently (excluding half term).
We all concluded that people just aren't going places far afield for leisure as much as they were, with petrol being what it is.
One of my learners has a test today, I get nervous on their behalf, so I'll be nervous for everyone else too...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Apparently Mr M was empty yesterday too, Dd was quite lonely in work :rotfl: it was due to the Manchester festival happening I guess - not my cup of tea, crowded noisy streets and queues for the loo
So Mar Jenners is House fo Fraser, I worked as an auditor for them many moons ago. that was a fab job travelled to lots of stores and put fear in the hearts of the posh staff. You were 'someone' in those days if you worked there.
having a quiet day as OH not too good, hope he picks up later as I have to go out for milk and bits and cant leave him. No rain so far but cant open the back door as neighbours doing the hedges and the noise is so annoying  it goes on for flipping hours.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
