    Ginny, Hope OH picks up.

Been good today - juggled a load of washing, done an hours ironing, hoovered right through, loaded dishwasher and put it on, rung solicitor to go and get some documents they still have, sorted out stuff for tea. Still at least another hours worth of ironing left to do :o

Off out to lunch in a sec with friend and DD. DD has 2 more GCSE's - maths on weds and geography next monday and then that's it. I am trying to think of things for her to do afterwards. The free train travel she gets might come in handy - she could go down to Milton Keynes and get her grandmother to take her out for lunch, for ex, she can come into Brum with me and go to the cinema or sealife or something. She really needs a job but they are few and far between for a 16 year old and because her new school is in another town, I am not sure what she will be able to do next year. She also has 2 trial days at new school - hope she likes it. Mind you, one of her jobs after exams, will be to tidy, sort out and thoroughly clean her bedroom - I think that will take a while :rotfl:

THink I'll try the elderflower cordial this PM - looking forward to it - then i or DD will bake some cakes for lunches.

Studying so supposed to be shushed but what the heck. ;)

I think I have seen elderflower on the way to school his morning. It was definitely hanging on branches with head of clumped flowers. The tree was hanging over the fence from an allotment. Do I pick or not - it's over a public footpath?

We commented much the same about the amount of car parking spaces at a large shopping centre near us last bank holiday. It was midday and normally by that time they would be queuing for spaces, even tailbacks on the motor way on a bank holiday. The multi stories were free and spaces out side were not all full. It was a sorry sight actually.

Speaking of 'being someone' if you worked in a department store. I was always intimidated by department stores when I was younger. I didn't think I was 'good enough' to be in them and if my mum or aunty looked shabby (never my grandma, always took care of herself even though money wasn't brilliant. She invested in pieces that lasted her years) then I would make excuses not to go in for fear of being looked down upon. Even to this day, if I feel I'm not looking my best I won't set foot in one. Weird huh.

I haven't defrosted my cod for dinner this evening, about 6ish. Would it defrost in 6 hours do you think? I fear a trip to the coop :(
  • FUDDLE if it is individual pieces of cod that can be separated from each other and spread out then it should defrost in that time. If it is one big piece or fresh fillets stuck together in a lump it probably won't. Cheers Lyn x. P.S. If the elderflowers are hanging over a public footpath I would say pick them !

Fuddle - yes, your cod should defrost. Separate it into individual fillets/pieces as soon as you can to speed it along. Don't defrost it in the fridge - just put it on a plate on the counter and cover it.

Raining again - that light, fine rain that seems even wetter than other stuff. So indoors batch cooking, including squash soup - in June!

I love Jenners but hardly ever buy anything in there, just have my hair cut. Cant even afford colour lol, just cut. I see some really smart looking people in there - and I drool a lot in the shoe dept. Bought a lottery ticket today and if we win I'll be right up there looking for a private shopper and a full wardrobe :D
Meanwhile back to reality...bacon & egg for tea tonight :rotfl::rotfl:

I think smileyt was building the Ark. I'm in charge of cake supplies and mardatha of making sure we all smell nice and sweetie supplies.

ginnyknit I hope your DH is feeling better now.

fuddle I wouldn't have any problems with picking the elderflowers. They probably view it as a weed to be honest. I have an elder right next to the house, but it has been so wet I can't pick any of the flowers.

My local Poundland had pretty bottles with corks in the tops when I went in last week and I remember thinking that they would be good to give people as presents.

I have a black Radley handbag which I love. For every day use I did have a black over the shoulder fiorelli one which got stolen and I replaced it with a blue John Lewis one. I tend to use handbags until they fall apart, so it works out better value buying a decent one that lasts much longer.

I made it out the house and walked to the local shopping centre and back in the rain. I did get 8 free cherry bakewells for my trouble however :D and some YS hot cross buns for DH and DS1. I also brought lots of veg to cancel out the cake.
Dinner tonight is going to be hot roast beef sandwiches with the leftover beef from yesterday. It was soooooooo good. DS1 ended up eating yorkshire pudding with a fried egg on top. There are days when I wonder why I bother cooking.

Good luck to the exam takers. I'm sure you will do well :)

    Take care xxxx
  • Hello GREENBEE - will you float down to us or shall I throw you a rope as we float past you? Happy summer!!!!!! SMILEY if it was you going into shipbuilding this might be the right day to 'float' shares on the stock market - Cheers Lyn and a very soggy lurcher xxx.

My doggy is poorly :( He has very runny you know what's. I think it's his food. We have been feeding him on not very good stuff. I am mortified. I feel so bad. Looking into paying a lot more money for his food (because he's worth it :) ) and emailed a reputable company for help. Also, being OS I am going to spend the night looking into raw foods, the natural way. I suspect that way will be stupidly expensive though. We'll see.

When we got a dog we knew it would be expensive but he's like one of the family now and means so much to all of us. I have to feel I'm doing right by him. There's being OS and there's being tight. I am sometimes very tight but not where my family (including the dog, I'm sad lol) health is concerned.

Righto, wittered on too much. I'm off for doggy cuddles. :)
