    Afternoon Eveyone!

Wet here today, so a nice lazy Sunday indoors. Just made the pulled pork, very nice indeed. The sauce is lovely. I swapped the dried oregano for thyme as that was what I had, and limited the chilli as the powder I am using at the mo seems particularly hot. I'm thinking the recipe would work with shoulder of lamb too. Cat George loves the pork btw!

We used to have an elder tree outside our back door. When the berries were on it the fat wood pigeons used to perch precariously on the very top to eat them. They were at our upstairs hall window height and we would startle them on the way to the loo - queue lots of flapping and bimbling about as they tried to leg it!

Just had a look at the jet stream forecast and sad to say it does not look like there will be much of an improvement in the weather until at least the 23/24th June, if then :( I do hope they have got it wrong !

Please forgive me for I have sinned. MIL been to pick me up to go thermal/winter shopping for bargains. There was money knocked off but I feel a bit yak for spending so much money :( Still, I have no car now and have to walk to school and 6 mile round trip for shopping so.... nope, I'm not convinced, I still can't justify it.

I have wellies, 2 thermal vests, two pairs of long janes and some super duper heat holding welly socks. I know it's money well spent and will be needed but still, kicking myself that I should have waited longer for a better bargain or waited to see if Aldi had things in for cheaper.
  • EVIE - do you really care? Just look benign and explain, folks are very approachable really!!! FUDDLE - Don't feel guilty , you'll be the warm sensibly dressed one this winter. The prices might go up and you will then feel frugal, Aldi might not have the things you want. You are now set up for winter well done you! Good on you both Cheers Lyn xxx.

Fuddle, do you feel bad because the items are for you? I know I can spend on others, especially DD and not bat an eye, but when it's for me I can fret for days. Plus as Mrs L says, you are all set up now and I imagine they are quality items which will last for years. Sometimes cheaper doesn't mean better. And as we are hurtling towards winter you are now all ready. I spent a bit more on a duvet, I was going to buy a really cheap one, but then decided the dearer one was a better long term buy.

Poor DD still going through the mill, a piece of the packing was left in the wound and causing severe pain, so nurse had to fish it out, needless to say very painful.

    Thanks Mrs L :)

Ouch Byatt poor DD really has been through the mill with this :(

Oh Gawd yeah. I totally feel guilty because it's for me. If DH bough himself it all (which he has done for his fishing previously) I wouldn't think bad. If I had bought the kids it all I would have felt so snug and warm and happy that I was taking care of my little ones. They have gotten fleece lined hats and gloves today online too but that cost not a lot (33p for the gloves would you believe - I posted on the winter prep thread about it)

I always feel guilty when I buy myself. I mean it's thermals for goodness sakes - hardly a Radley bag! lol Need to give my head a shake.

Fuddle, I think it's our nurturing instinct, but truly believe now that we should nurture and value ourselves too...if for no other reason, if we weren't well or able to be all we want to be for our family, they would be lost without us. So, no more guilt... :)

I feel a bit guilty as last night, whilst a little <<ahem>> under the influence I bid on a White Stuff top on ebay. Not really expecting to win - and I did!! :o

Oh and I don't even know what a Radley bag is!! :o:o

If I make loads of yorkshire puddings, can I freeze some?

(assuming the gannets don't eat them all!)
