LOL Molly! I have a very strong stomach too apart from spiders!
Re men fainting - my 6ft son once took a hawk to the vet for a broken wing to be pinned. Fainted halfway through and came to lying on the floor eyeball to eyeball with a very interested kitten in a cage. He was mortified to find out the snazzy girl nurse had dragged him out of the way by the ankles so they could go on with the operation.
My dad made elderberry wine once... it blew up in the pantry in the middle of the night and nearly gave my mother heart failure. She went on about it for 20 years..0 -
MAR - the first time I tried elderflower champagne the recipe said loosen the bottle lids after 2 weeks. Well I tried. Could I turn them? No no no. Eventually DH got out a spanner thingy and we managed to twist one lid just a bit. It went off like a Catherine Wheel, and we put it outside on the lawn where it continued to fizz and splutter for the rest of the day and most of the night. In the morning there was about half an inch of flat fizz in the bottom of the bottle and drunken ants everywhere. Ants 1 - Lyn 0!!!!!0

That kind of thing happened in our house too!
Another cautionary tale to do with elderberries... one batch of elderberry wine was so potent that it was nicknamed "the purple peril" - one of our friends had a reaction to something in it and came out in vivid red blotches all over! You have been warned!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Cough,
know I said I don't go in CS's lately...? We have a new one, a Barnardo's with everything at 99p.
I went in hoping to find a belt as my son nicks mine, (Well ok, it is a Next men's I suppose) and came out with:
A belt, a Bon Marche cardigan in pale green (looks almost new), a George belted jumper, a Harrods shopper (zip bust but I can fix) and a double CD of popular vocal classical music by top artists.
I can remember seeing that CD when I was working PT on a low wage and wishing I could treat myself. Total spend £4.45. :money:
Fuddle, huge hugs to you.
I stopped wearing glasses in my mid 30s as I realised that with one weak eye and one very strong one I was more or less OK to manage without, and my optometrist confirmed it. And I am still fine 20 years on. I'm now 54 and keep expecting to need them, but it hasn't happened yet.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I have a demijohn from my pre tea-total days, I think i'll leave it under the sink.. or will I? Be nice to have a glass on a sunny Saturday evening with DH. Hmmm sunny. Think it's a dream. Oh what the heck, i'll try it if I can find my bung (that sounds like some sort of innuendo  )

I had the back of the eye photo thing done today too. Whilst I didn't faint I also felt a bit strange looking at a picture of the back of my eye blown up to the size of a football. Glad to report that today's pics are virtually identical to those done in 2008 and 2010 and my eyes are in tip top condition - apart from the extreme myopia of course. And no prescription change so no new glasses required - phew!
Got a few charity shop bits including a book on WW2 - I collect them - and a brand new Easiyo for £3, some 75% off seeds in Wilkinson's and some well-priced dog bits in QD. Won't be going back for quite a while though - parking up by 33% Poundland and Aldi were very busy, as was Primark which I didn't bother with. Also called in at the 2 ethnic grocers in town - very good prices for all sorts of spices, pulses etc. Apart from the parking a very good trip. But now cream-crackered - walked pup for an hour before going out and miles round town. Slippers on, tea made and that's me done for the day."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

The last elderberry wine I made was also really potent - left it to mature for a few months and hey presto, port! Must try that again this year."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
