Hugs to PAH, I hate the dentist with a passion & it always hurts twice when you go, once in the mouth & once in the purse.
I got into trouble at work today, complaining about losing £100 a month as it seems I got the figures wrong, I'm only losing £98.50, oh that's ok then!
We are not eligible for any benefits, part of the problem is living in an expensive part of the country & part of it is being robbed by my ex when I got divorced & having to take out a mortgage at 50 for somewhere to live with 2 of my children who were then still living with me.
Hey ho, there are others worse off I'm sure, but it's a hell of a kick in the teeth.

I have a saucepan dilemma, I made popcorn and a lot burnt on the bottom of my favourite pan :( I feel so silly, I took my eye off it for a minute. There's no chunks left but there is black residue. I've tried soaking in hot soapy way, soaking in bio powder, using aluminium foil to scrub it off and it's all not working. Has anyone got any ideas before I bin it?

Dishwasher liquid (i.e. washing liquid for the dishwasher) is good for stuff like that - a bit of hot water a good dollop of the liquid and leave to soak.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Hester, I know how you feel. The day I moved into my house, 2 things happened. My friend who was supposed to be moving in (and I was hoping the dig money she'd pay would help with my bills) said she'd accepted a job elsewhere and my boss phoned me (he was based outside the UK) to say we were getting a 10% paycut company wide, 3 months later we had another 10% paycut. The paycuts lasted over 5 years, then finally redundancy. I survived, 11 years on I'm married but OH only just working again after being paid off and I got made redundant for the second time in 3 years. It was 6 months before I got another job last time, so far its 6 weeks since I finished.

How did I cope? I found MSE and basically every single website where i could make a little extra money (Quidco freebies, YouGov, OnePoll etc) and sent off for every freebie I would use. This meant I had a few extra pennies for other things (bills and debt as I'm still paying off medical bills).

I know it won't be easy but having read a lot of your posts I know you'll get through this. Sending you a hug. :o
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

shelley_crow, try boiling cheap cola in the pan. It's worked wonders on pans that DH has burnt things in before now.

PAH you poor thing. I would have run screaming from the surgery. Here's hoping next time works. (((((hugs)))))

Byatt fingers crossed your rent doesn't go up.

((((hugs))))) Hester. Just an idea but could you do something like Country Markets? I know you work during the week, but there might be one at the weekend near you.

I'm feeling a bit better today. Still shattered and coughing stuff up, but I didn't cough last and got a decent nights sleep. I managed to make pizza dough and tomato sauce earlier and have gotten everyone to help with the rest. DS2 is happy with pulled pork pizza...eat your heart out Dominoes.

Leicester had a big rain storm earlier, so it has cooled down a lot. Great news as I'm tired of being too hot at night.

    Take care everyone xxxx

Raining here - had to dash out for the washing! Will do the garden good and maybe DS will sleep better if he's not so hot - I so need a good sleep.

Shelley - you could try tea, make some with a bag and some boiling water in the pan and then let it cool over night - should be easier to scrub in the morning. It was my old bosses' trick when he'd got distracted by hotel people arriving while trying to prep up for dinner!

PAH - much sympathy about the dentist, I've been today too with the kids but fortunately nothing more than a scale and polish for me (although I'm so frightened I have gas and air for even that :o)

I'm fed up and grumpy! I am suffering, like a lot of you, with poor sleep because it's hot and humid and it's not doing my mood any good.:mad:. I am having to water all my plants everyday with cans of water from the water butts and my back is still bad so the lugging around of water isn't doing it any good. Then my friend, who lives only 3 or 4 miles away, tells me it's been raining heavily there for the last 2 hours and here?......not a blasted drop!

Still, reading through what others are going through with pay cuts and dentists and rent rises and ratty visitors and poorly families, doesn't half make me count my blessings.

I am sending love, hugs and positive vibes to all in need. I am so sorry you are having such hard times.xxx

Thanks Mary, I will try that. Where did you get your ammonia from?

Those little hardware shops that have lots of plastic crates and check laundry bags outside usually have it.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Paint stripper - the nitromors stuff. OH uses it to clean burn stuff off things like the rayburn. Use with due caution, and rinse thoroughly.

Sorry to hear about your dentist visit PAH. I had a session many years ago with about 6 failed injections which contributed to my fear of dentists (I didn't pass out though!). There was never a time he could get away with 1 injection and have it take. Fast forward to my new dentist and it takes first injection every time (2 for an entirely painless root canal).... I wonder if some of them are just better at that bit or if the drugs are different. I hope your next trip has more success and less passing out.
I rpesume you have started your travels, but hope they do find out what is up with your dad, Safe journey xxxx

Nope I'm just on my way in a few minutes! Thanks for the wishes, I'll see you all in just under a month (unless I bump into you in a charity shop in England!), xxx
