Update on DSiL work situation. The big firm paid its bill! :j
DSiL is in PAID work and his boss says things will go back to normal again. DD and DSiL are not so sure. They are looking at it as a reprieve and all their plans for less spending/saving a bit, are staying in place. If the work situation does stay good they will benefit from it in the long run.
She and I had the conversation of, 'Out of what food you have bought this week, sort out seven work lunches and seven evening meals. Next week sort them out from what you have already got in the fridge and freezer!' I could see her looking at me and working out how much she will save by eating out of the freezer.:) We then had the conversation about stretching meat into extra meals.;) They have always been lucky to have two good wages and have always been able to buy concert tickets or event tickets as and when they wanted to. I think it's this mind set that is going to be the most difficult to change. It's hard to learn not to buy things if you don't need them.:(Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
They are good, aren't they Byatt - totally yummy. Padstow is full of nice things to eat, which is why we usually cycle there from Wadebridge - I like to delude myself that it burns of the extra calories :rotfl:
Yes! People were walking passed and saying, look at the SIZE of those meringues. I chose a BIG one! :rotfl:
We used the ferry from Rock, I can't ride a bike. We did go into Wadebridge though and mooched about. The weather was so good, it's raining here in Dev*n, but somehow 2 hours away it was lovely. Had such a nice time. Looked at the prices in Rick's restaurant and didn't think they were that bad. The ferry man said it was over priced though!
We didn't go to Port Isaac, went there many years ago with ex when it was not made popular by Doc Martin, probably in the 80's.
Hope you have a lovely time, and enjoy the fish and chips made by someone else.
edit, meme, such good news about Dsil's job!0
