Glad the eye test was OK Byatt - hope I didn't alarm you too much beforehand.

    Waves.... I'm here!

Been reading but not posting much as what I have got to say not half as interesting or shocking as you lot (hope everyone who had tribulations recently now a bit better). What an amazing coincidence that blanket is!

Smiley - all you can tell yourself is that they don't know what they're missing! I would gladly take a bag of mealworms, I want to start my own little farm, the robins are eating them at a prodigious rate!

Been a bit busy getting ready for our first trading night - Saturday May 4th Woo hoo! We are going to a little camp site about a mile away, it's in a lovely spot overlooking the bay. The chap does not think he will be busy, but is already full for late May (or June this year :) ) bank hol, so should be perfect. I am really looking forward to it now, was dreading it for a while!

Re slow site - I was having probs with ie and switched to Chrome, and it's been fine since.

Got to brave the wet and windy garden this afternoon, not been up for a couple of days as the weather has been so carp, need to check that the seedlings in grow house are ok. Forecast looks grim, and no sign of improvement. Very frustrating after lovely weather we have had (I know we have been really lucky, but we do get our fair share of rain - if ever a drought is called here we would know things were really bad).

Gotta go - chimney sweep has arrived!

B&T, I have some soaps too. I can't bear to unwrap them yet as they are so pretty and I keep admiring them. Gave one set of meeces to the little girl next door who is having major surgery next week. Very talented is Mardatha. I just love the attention to detail and all the colours. Beautiful.

Mary, no you didn't alarm me too much, but motivated me. So glad I've gone now as it's put my mind at rest and I shall have some nice new NHS glasses for reading. My eyes are the only things that don't have anything seriously wrong with them, so I'm chuffed. I have been putting off going for years despite being told I should go.

She did the periphery test and the glaucoma test too. It's all much more up to date and easier now isn't it. Loved seeing pics of my eyeballs!

All this talk of travelling alone is very inpsirational and I'm getting itchy feet. I know when I went to the USA on my own I came back a new, very confident woman. Unfortunately my ex didn't like this new woman. :(

I went to St Ives a couple of years ago on my own, maybe longer come to think of it, but DD was with a boyfriend then so I could go, although I do recall she was still upset! Anyway, it was lovely, I went to the Tate and could look at things at my leisure. The hardest part is in a restaurant so always take a book with me and I've noticed other women do the same.

Mrs C, exciting! The 4th May! Will be thinking of you. :)

Wow - re the blanket!! Uhmayzing.

One day I am going to Paris alone. I have been a lot and still love it, but I have now "done" the usual sights ad nauseum. So, one day, i'll go and have my fill of Picasso, Rodin, Monet et al plus one or two cemetries (I know its wierd but strangely fascinatng to see e.g. Piaf's tomb or Oscar Wilde's which is a sight in itself). It would just be nice to meet someone for dinner.

Urgh - what a horrible day. Rain with drizzle in between. I need to go and stick washing under my Rotaire line cover but it feels too wet to even do that. I've shopping all over the floor and ant powder all over the lounge - tonight is our wedding anniversary (21 years:eek: - it was a much nicer day than this) so we are going out en famille to celebrate, so at least no cooking.

Looking forward to Sunday as me and kids are going to Harry Potter studio tour :j I love HP.

    Stay dry.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Im sitting here crying. Garage just called and we've been sold a couple lemon. The gear box needs changing all 4 somethings have gone, loads of other stuff....3k, more if the turbos have gone! I don't know what to do? It was a private sale and OH has tried to call him a minute ago but not answering his phone. They must have known. We've used all our savings and only have cards left to buy on which I don't want to do.

OH PP that's awful - don't have any constructive advice but didn't want to just read and run. Hopefully someone will be able to give some ideas on what action, if any, you can take.

    Have a big hug (((((((HUG)))))

Thanks. According to the CAB website, we have no rights as it was from a private seller. We've lost 4.5k which was everything we had, plus £120 yesterday and another £80 today for the computer tests which has had to go on the card. We had the log book come this morning....ironic! I really don't know what to do. I feel sick. This guy knew how ill I am as its mainly used to get me to the London hospitals and we had to make sure the chair fit. Its always us!

Oh PP I'm so sorry. I only wish I could offer some practical advice. Maybe people on the motoring board could help?

Oh, PP I am so sorry. That happened to us quite a few years ago now, (it also happened to my dad when I was a teenager, who was so upset he cried bless him, he never cried). What horrible, horrible people to sell to you knowing it was a complete and utter piece of carp. I don't know how these people live with themselves. Yes, try the motoring board as Mary suggests.

    I'm so, so sorry. :(

edit, there's this link http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Consumerrights/Buyingacar-yourconsumerrights/DG_183047 which says pretty much what CAb says. Do you know if the seller could be a trader, or is he genuinely a private seller?

He has another car on Ebay, but we didn't buy through Ebay. He told us he buys and sells.
