Steadily getting through the cupboards and freezer.

I go to places n my own, always have done. TBH I prefer it. I've always encouraged my DD to do the same as friendships were always difficult for her and she wouldn't have done anything if we'd waited on a friend..I went to the USA on my own and loved it. The only reason (well apart from money :rotfl:) I don't travel far on my own, is my DD. She can't cope with me being anywhere except home. And then there's pooch to think of. But one day, I will do it.
One venture in this country involved going to a Cardiff castle banquet. I wasn't going to miss out just because I was on my own. For some reason I thought I would have my own table and could be fairly inconspicuous...however, on arriving there were 2 coach loads of tourists, some Brits, mostly Australian and American/Canadian. We were all herded into a room and given a drink of mead, when the person in charge loudly announces my name and that I am on my own, so could everyone be nice to me.:o:o:eek:...mortified beyond belief I tried to merge in with the walls as 60 or so pairs of eyes looked at me.(I did try the looking about as if I didn't know who they were referring to, and might have worked if everyone didn't already know each other). I am then tagged on to the end of a trestle table of one of the coach parties. Later, on leaving, I am walking behind 2 of the women I had chatted to, and heard one say, "I felt so sorry for that woman..." (meaning me). I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry. I had enjoyed myself no end, food was pretty awful though, but entertainment was good.
I love being able to do what I want, when I want without worrying about another person.
VJ, it's Catbells who went to the Far East. I'm hoping she will read here and know we are waiting to hear about her travels.0 -

I'm sure you're right about Henry Hoover wanting to be near to me so I tend to put another cover over my armchair at night. He curls up there and sleeps peacefully until the morning. He's as contrary as any other feline during the day-seeing my putting on a coat will want to go out as well awaiting my return whatever the weather! He can't read the notice to cats requiring them to wipe their feet before entering the house so needs grabbing to have muddy paws wiped prior to assaulting my furniture!!! He makes me laugh...
Hope you're knee is improving by the way.

Glad we're not the only ones to experience the vagaries of the insurance companies. Hope you're recovering healthwise as well.
Despite being a very keen gardener, I'm finding this constant rain really depressing even though we need it... Am even out on regular walks in this weather with the mp3 for company or the group if it's accessible, Yes exercise does help mood but today I was fed up to the backteeth with it,
Does anyone else find the combination of WIND with rain makes the angry?! I loathe windy, rainy weather and felt really low today.
At the embroidery class my tutor told me that the local adult ed are finally running a craft course on a Monday afternoon after so many cancellations and messing about last term. As that means I can still have my Monday lie in I've enrolled to join in week 2 of 10. It gets me out of the house, keeps me physically active with others and also provides a regular walk on a day the walking group doesn't meet.
Adult ed classes are half price for over 60s unless one's on pension Credit which I'm not . Worker's Education Association (WEA) classes have no reduction unless people are on benefits so Pensioners end up subsidising anyone else on concession - they pay 10% and pensioners still have to pay full whack. OH thought this was expensive for both of us to do a course together and chose not to continue this term. I've learned so much from my creative embroidery class and really benefited so it represents very good value. WEA have, unfortunately, rather priced themselves out of the market for a lot of older people. Their policies don't seem fair. Has anyone else who's retired experienced this?0 -
I'm sick to the back teeth of constant heavy cold rain. Chickens are floundering in a sea of mud or hiding in the coop. Nothing planted or anywhere near it. Never been further than the car or the back garden for days and days. Can I please win the lottery and move to the Caribbean?0

Chance would be a fine thing, 'eh Mar. You'd just get a hurricane or disappear down the Bermuda triangle.
Never won more then £110 me and that was 11 years ago.:( Still, it bought me a new computer printer and a few other things then.Felines are my favourite

PP I would put in on a wool or hand wash cycle in the machine, and dry on the line.0

((((((((((mardatha))))))))))) If I win the lottery then I'll let you borrow my house somewhere warm. It would help if I ever brought a ticket, but if the rain lets up at some point I'll go and buy one. Have some virtual pink shrimps.
kidcat Good luck with the reports and fingers crossed the Ed Psych doesn't live up to their reputation.
kezlou I'm glad the business is going well
Today has been a bit of a non day if that makes sense. The only productive thing I've done is finish knitting my first hatDH got home from work at 1am this morning, having left the house at 6.30am yesterday morning. So both of us are shattered.
I'm also broke as I've spent £9.50 on stuff I didn't really need. I'm so used to the tax credits coming into the bank of Weds and that being my slurge money that it stopping will take some getting used to. Add in giving DH and DS2 money and this week's is gone. Oh well, it could be a lot worse. I wonder if I can find a knitting pattern for fake £20 notes somewhere
I'm making Chicken Fahitas for dinner as skin on chicken breasts are half price in Mr T's at the mo. I think they work out at £4.68 per kilo, so the cheapest chicken breast I've found for a while.
Does anyone know if Mr T will take multiple money off vouchers? I've got 2 x £4 off a £30 shop and 1 x £10 off an £80 shop. I'm hoping I can combine them and do a stock up shop on Friday.
Time to go as it smells like it might be burnt offerings instead of chicken if I don't get a move on.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -
Pink shrimps! Oooooh ta!0

SDG - I've got some of those vouchers as well and just had a look - states "one coupon per transaction". You could split your shopping into appropriately sized groups and use them that way though."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
