Isis - sending hugs,
Smiley - MrsLW is posting on the not mentioning T word thread.
Am off to bed now, have slept big chunks of day again, but did manage to take DS8 to new Mr T as he has been begging to go since they opened before Easter, he was very well behaved for him, but I found it very hard, I was shaking by the time we paid - he noticed and offered to take me for coffee!!!0 -
Smileyt I got the raisins from a garden centre reduced to 50p a kilo, organic too but that was months ago. Will have a look on my travels for you. Hope the chest clears soon, take care hunny.

An open letter to my many near neighbours; won't be sending it.
Dear Neighbour,
I hope this finds you well. I'd like to draw your attention to that piece of metal in the middle of your front door. It's called a handle and exists so that you can open and close your door in a controlled manner. This means that there is absolutely no need to jerk the door into the frame with an almighty bang whenever you go in and out, particularly when you go out at 03.58 am, like one of you did this morning. You may have also noticed that we don't have Yale locks which need to be engaged by a wee bit of force but these mortice locks for which you have to use a key. If any of you are having difficulty with the concept of the door handle, I would be only too pleased to give a small demonstration.
Yours, the sleep-deprived sarky beyatch at Number ...........
 Urrrrrggghhhhhhhhh, that burger woke me up and it seemed that I was just nicely back in the Land of Nod when I had to get up. Blinking druggies.
Well, another day at the salt-mine in prospect and afterwards, unless it is chucking it down, I shall walk up to the lottie with the bike pump and pump my flat and hope to be able to ride 'er back down again. SuperGran informed me on the telephone last night that the weather forecasted for this week is supposed to be even worse than last week, but I take that with a pinch of salt. I have been listening to the weather forecast on the radio and they're told me that the weather in Provincial City is doing A and a quick glance out the window has confirmed that the exact opposite is happening. Hence occasionally yelling at the radio; "No, it isn't raining, you moron, it's sunny!"
Hey, weirdness abounds. I tried to switch my font back to the default (Verdana) after playing silly-beggars and now Verdana isn't on the menu and I'm stuck using Arial. Sorry for the 3-fonts-in-one-post phenomenon..............I hope it re-sets itself when I next post.:rotfl:
B&T nice work with the boots. I got a plastic linen basket last year.;)
OK, time to check on some other stuff. Have a good one, peeps.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning ladies - couldn't read and run (was away end of last week, so just caught up on a monster load of posts!!
)
HUGE hugs to Shegar, kidcat, ginny and Byatt.
Byatt - I second GQ's advice re arnica - don't use it on broken skin! I have a phial of arnica 'tablets' which I take (I think they're Nelson's homeopathic range), along with arnica oil and arnica gel (kids.... always falling over...!)
Welcome to Dee, bogwobbit and Isis - it's very friendly here, VERY chatty and totally bonkers

Greent:- when we needed a new lock for our dishwasher I found a web site called e-spares. New lock was only £10 and they had a video to watch so we could replace it ourselves! They even told you to be careful of the sharp edge and yes, DH cut his finger anyway!:p Job only took 15 minutes, we were really chuffed.:DGive us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

Hmm, you don't get out of making the tea that waywelcome to the thread, mine's a rooibos, no sugar - ta
Re your university - I am a lecturer in a Uni and a course director (oooooh get me) - have you spoken to your course director, head of school or student services? Your CD or HofS should be able to tell you your options for suspending studies / appealing results / exceptional extenuating circumstances / withdrawing. Student services may be able to give you some academic and personal counselling regarding finances / pressures / other options. Good luck with it.
Well I am sat, once again, waiting for Mr Boiler Man. They'd better sort the s0dding thing today or there'll be blood. I also have a lovely day of cleaning ahead - deep joy.
DS has broken his school bag so we have to go and purchase another. We have a house full of bags but apparently they are all, and I quote "chavvy" - or worse words, although I didn't realise bags had a sexuality at all. I do hate it when kids use that word to describe something they don't like - particularly as we have two very dear friends (who he loves) in a same sex relationship. But, that's kids.
Anyone tried chocolate philadelphia yet? It's scrummy...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all, I pop in and out depending on time allowed from other threads, activities etc.
VJsmum I have that same problem with my 2, got a brand new with tags backpack from a carboot sale last summer only to be told no its wrong brand and "***" at least DH doesn't mind as long as it holds his lunch box and reading book.
On the home front we are still trying to batten down the budget hatches, Dh compnay is moving premises to the other side of town, and this will mean us purchasing another car and all the costs that go with, we have been lucky in that he has been able to walk to work until now, so have managed with one.
We are under the hosepipe ban and have rain nearly every day since in came into force (irony).
I have seed sown and lots of things are germinating, hoping to again keep ourselves in salads, beans, courgettes, leeks and swedes with some potatoes in bags for salads.
Bread loaf has just finished baking so I best get sorted for work.

Hi everyone. Have been lurking for ages as not really felt I'd anything to add to the discussion. Sorry to hear of some of the awful situations in which other posters have found themselves.
It's really true that no matter how low one feels there's always a lot of others worse off.
It's 19 weeks tomorrow since I sustained a whiplash injury on a badly maintained bridge at our local stately home whilst on an organised walk. I could not have imagined how long this discomfort would go on. Whilst it's clearing up I still have the pain at the lower part of my skull and the tightness up into my scalp. Despite sleep deprivation, painkillers etc and my GP's accupuncture I'm now awaiting physio referral and doing my best to carry on as normal!
As I've had to stop playing the flute for the foreseeable future and as I play for a quire I'm having to learn another instrument which goes forward rather than sideways!... so am 9 weeks into teaching myself the tenor recorder. As I also play wood whistle it's actually led to a whole new thing musically speaking which has to be good. That and the walking does seem to lift my mood- isn't ' getting yerself behind yerself 'n givin' yerself a kick' as they say in my hometown really hard work? It's a constant fight to keep going and be cheerful....
My cousin got me to take her over to a very large shopping centre where she persuaded me to buy the bigger part of a whole new wardrobe as everything was upto 2 /3 sizes too big..except the bras of course- my weight loss has been measured in the 'stoppem- floppems' having to be very frequently changed!! It's amazing what leeway elasticated waists will give either way weightwise but once everything starts falling down it becomes ridiculous. Just need some nice weather to sport my slimline look now!- but we're on a hosepipe ban and it's done very little else but rain since it was implemented.
This means endless watering cans but I'm determined we'll grow our own food this year as it's certain the supermarkets are going to use whatever excuse they can to capitilise on the drought situation. Lifting anything a little heavy does seem to set off my neck a bit but I figure if I keep doing bits of whatever needs doing with OH's help we will get there.
Started later than usual in the greenhouse this year but have all my onion sets put into the big patch and covered with the ultrafine mesh we use- to keep the pigeons out- apparently they think it's nesting material when they lift onion sets. Have pricked out between 40 & 50 tomato seedlings as well.
Also they huge cat who adopted us last year, Henry Hoover(5.27 kg), has to be dissuaded from the idea that a newly dug patch is HIS! He pinches every seat of mine despite having a bed and access to a three seater sofa. I'd rather he stayed in at night as he came back a few weeks ago having obviously been in a fight and almost lost an eye. Thankfully he's been all right so if sleeping in my armchair means he's safe and we're keeping vets bills down so be it. He's been such a comfort since little Jennicat died in September.
Well had a lot of expense recently so really having to watch every expenditure lately but as retirement feels like a permanent holiday to me and I'm too busy to be bored it's not that bad!0 -
If I can't be a nonny mouse (just love that, never heard of it before), maybe a Mouseketeer???
I'm stiff and in pain as many of you predicted. Feels like I've been run over by a steam roller. Sore foot, sore knee, pain all alongside the right hand side, and 2 painful wrists where I tried to break my fall. Still nothing worse, so all good.
Just going to make my appointment with opticians. Seriously worried now after reading up about glaucoma as I always assumed it was the urgent , painful kind. Had no idea about the other and having diabetes is one of the ...what's the word I'm looking for? uuuhhhmmm, can't think.
Rain, rain and more rain here. Evere since they announced the drought.
Hi Isis, have you tried the OU forum on MSE? What is your degree? Oh and welcome! xx
edit, just made an appointement for eye test! Got in for Friday as they have had a cancellation otherwise would have bee more than a couple of weeks. Feel incredibly proactive about my health! Thanks to Mary for the motivation. xx0
