Gailey, you can defrost the beef in the microwave no problem, stick it on defrost and leave for 20 minutes or so. If you've got less time turn it up a notch and it'll be quicker.
I'd avoid the takeaway and spend the money on fuel, if you're anything like me you'll only feel guilty about the cost of a TA and worry about where the fuel is coming from!Piglet

Ahhh fairy cakes a disaster! I blame the oven.
hubby gets home just as get them out and says you burn everything.
they were in 10mins max burnt round edges and sunk in middle!
have put layer of thick icing on top with reduced buttons but they quite rubbish.
beef stews in oven will take couple of hours.
serving with rice and frozen veg.
eldest back from skating party had great time and was really god such a shame only icekating rink in bristol is shutting down.hubby only spent £1.60 on parking:).
hubbys taken his son round his mums as hes bored and one to one dad time to see nanny.
girls are arguing as both are now tired,
Their screaming has woken their poorly baby brother up again:mad:
I think if was feeling well then could just about handle the 4kids bit feel bit worn down by refereeing, constant breastfeeding, cooking, cleaning, tidying and shopping!
might go round spar on whoppsie hunt later just for a break!
eldest exited about mini hols in wales with my mam.
stepson also back in wales home with his mam tommorow and hubbys working all week.
optimistic few things sold on netmum tommorow so might get valentines meal deal. someone posted the 34 valentines poundstretcher deal on food board made me chuckle so loud was very toungue and cheek combined with tesco value valentines card:rotfl:.
Hoping beef stew ok defrosted for 10mins per pack.
then run out of oil soi fried in butter and little plain flour on hob 10mins.
added to pot with 1tin chopped tomatoes
1pint beef oxo stock
salt, pepper, mixed herbs
and cooking for 2hours as was only small chunks of beef in small 250g packs but still chuffed to get for 75p each love my spar.
its badly laid out, staff are grumpy and everyday stuff pricey but im strict and reductions are better than loansharks of food co-op.
will cook load frozen partyfare later for hubby to snack on.
we have rolls, little cheese, butter and reduced ham:D
kind of proud how we coped this month.
earlier when noting down expenses allin one go for feb scared me a little its a lot.
we on last week of milkman before we cancel him:( feel bad as like supporting local but needs must as costing us extra £10 a month.
if we careful next few months can get ourselves out of hole we currently in its not that bad but outsnading bills stress me and hubbys creditcard company ring constantly.
toddlers been naughty cheeky but cute and her vocabulary so much better.
freind gave us her daughters old carseat saving us least £100.

Hi Kidcat
The school semolina you remember was probably made using a double boiler and dried milk something similar to this recipe http://www.schoolrecipes.co.uk/index.php/school-dinner-recipes/66-miscellaneous.html,
We used to make it like this when I worked in a school kitchen omitting the cocoa, pan was a b*gger to clean after though.
HTH
Thank you. Sounds exactly right, not sure about the double boiler business though - can I stack two pans on top of each other?
Had disaster this morning took kids to local cinema for kids movie £1 each - but go there to find all four movies full already! Was very difficult explaining to Ds but have paid for tickets for tomorrow instead so will try again - trouble is Oh is at work tomorrow so will be solo with two kids:eek:
Pleased that I bought some broccoli earlier this week for 3p and was huge bag, have used some through the week, but rest was looking tired today so whilst making the roast I threw a broccoli soup together too.0 -

Great, wasn't it! Still a bit sad that Shane has retired, but Leigh Halfpenny is quite cute...Had disaster this morning took kids to local cinema for kids movie £1 each - but go there to find all four movies full already! Our local £1 special has got busier & busier - we often have to get there 30 minutes before the film starts to make sure we get a seat & there are always people being turned away. Yet this time last year there were probably only a hanful of people at those screenings & my DS could quite happily play musical chairs through the film :rotfl:. Ours went up today to £1.10 but still a bargain compared to the £16 it would cost us normally
Greent - shame about the Bristol meet but hopefully it will be a success & we could arrange a few more throughout the year? Just looked at the thread & a meet in Bath for the summer would be lovely.
VJsmum - hope your Dad is improving.
Oven cleaning - one of the few benefits of being partially sighted is that you can never really see how bad the oven gets :rotfl:And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -

Thank you - he is doing it rather slower than we'd like, but does seem to be improving.
I am gearing up for an evening of call the midwife and knitting. I really must get the winter weight cardi finished before spring! The ironing and the marking can wait.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hi Gailey, good luck with your husbands job interview and your uni application. I don't know how you do it, but please take care of yourself if you are ill, I know it's hard with 3 kids and stepson but your posts exhaust me just reading them!
Brisket today was yummy. Baby didn't want his spag bol, think he ate one mouthful whilst munching a breadstick but spat all the rest out. He loves finger food but I do worry his diet is a bit restricted. He won't drink formula so I have to give him it in his meals and I worry he isn't getting enough. He weaned himself off breastfeeding at 8 months when I was expecting to feed him until he was 12 months so that was a bit of a shock. But HV says he should be getting most of his nutrition from food now but he has the same old thing most days and worried there's not enough variety. Keep trying every day but it does get a bit wearing when he won't eat new things.
Managed to tidy up a bit today so feel like I have acheived something. No baby classes tomorrow so not sure what we are going to do all day. Finding it hard to keep baby entertained at his age, he has started having little tantrums when he doesn't get his own way which can be quite funny but also a pain in the bum when you are on your own all day with him. Long walk in the pram coming up tomorrow I think.0
