  • I need reminding I am not doing it for her and doing it for the cats.

You're not doing it for her, you're doing it for the cats! :p

Just messing... ;) Seriously though, a lot of them are at the charities because of their control issues. They need somewhere to take it out, and nowhere else will have 'em. They are probably the ones who need reminding who they're supposed to be there for! I used to volunteer at a charity shop but the attitude of the manager (and some of the longer-serving volunteers) stunk so much I had to leave. It's sad as I kind of lost respect for that shop and even the charity itself as a result.

Hug virtual hug (((hug))) to you. And well done on the not smoking!!!! :T I gave up a few years ago and know how hard it is. It's worth it though. Now the 'smoking scrabbles' seems like a whole other lifetime ago. Hang in there!

    Hi Lizzy

I went down and clicked the coloured ballons button on each post I was going to quote. When I was done reading I then hit 'post reply'. I got the reply box but no qoutes were in it!

click the coloured balloons and when you're ready to reply hit 'Quote' on one of the posts you want to quote iyswim ;)

it only lets me do three at a time

Yep, NO-ONE ELSE WILL HAVE THEM. They've possibly tried to get work elsewhere, as working for a charity for many is often a labour of love. Hardly anyone earns what they could elsewhere, so if money was important to them they would have found an alternative. Some of them are stuck and don't like it, and some of them couldn't get a job and keep it in public or private industry.

When she's really annoying or upsetting you either imagine how horrible it must be to be her with her horrible life, fantasise about sticking pins in a wax effigy or see in your mind's eye her sitting on the lav. With third-degree constipation. One of those usually gets me over the fury.

Thanks elizabunny Glad I'm not the only one (not glad you and others are struggling, IYKWIM, but at least not alone). The dark evenings are definitely my big downer.

((Hugs)) to all those with unwelcome dogs, blues and otherwise.
Black dogs: I know this is not the same for everyone: I do have a tendency to slip down onto the edge of the abyss from time to time myself. I know what causes it, it's anxiety that's the driver for me but I have found regular doses of St Johns Wort has made a huge difference to how I've been feeling.

I have a metaphorical black dog too - and i think mine is a lot to do with anxiety. I am trying to beat it into submission at the moment. March 1 always seems a significant day for me and I breathe a sigh of relief that I have got through the winter - even though I know that it can still be cold after this. I take regular doses of Rhodiola Rosea which helps with anxiety and adrenalin production. Following advice on here from, I think, Frugal I also take massive doses of Vitamin D and that seems to be helping. Mine is also to do with long dark nights and the cold.

Strangely, I felt cheered this morning at the easter egg display in the supermarket all sunshiney and yellow.
    Afternoon peeps.

Please can someone talk some sense into me.

I volunteer at a charity and please can someone tell me why they are all ran by awful women with control issues??? How anyone sticks around is beyond me

[STRIKE]Haggedy old witch[/STRIKE] This lady had annoyed me but I need reminding I am not doing it for her and doing it for the cats. I have little to do with the people as the cats are at my house but this "little" interaction is more than enough for me.

    Sorry for the moan

ETA Day four with no smoking

Sorry you are having problems - you are doing it for the cats!! Well done on the no smoking.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

GFN - I just tried to multiple quote about ten posts as an experiment and it did just 4, but it did work. No other suggestions, sorry.

You are clicking Post Reply and not Quick Reply?

ETA aah I see Rosieben has sorted it - click Quote on the last pick, not the balloons. Thanks Rosieben

PIC - How sad some people are - and it showed great contol not to bite. Just think that you are doing great work for the charity, and feel proud of that. That all being said, your current non-smoking and PMT will be making you feel much more sensitive to such carp, so I'm sure you know that on another day you would have been able to put her politely but firmly back into her box!

    Afternoon all
My kitchen is 12ft square, has only one door & 27 sockets put in at my request by hubby when we bought the house. There is lots of worksurface, or there would be if I tidyed it up a bit, We also have a table & 6 chairs in there.
I'm already 60 & can retire in 18 months, I'm hoping to work til I'm 65 at least as we have a mortgage to pay, I will then have worked for 50 years as I started as a hairdressers apprentice when I was 15, I worked near St Georges hospital in Knightbridge, just across from Hyde Park. I earned the princly sum of £3. I had to pay for my own uniform & had 10s (50p) stopped out of my wages for that, my train fare from Colliers Wood to Knightbridge was £1 a week, I had to give my Mum £1 a week for my keep. This left me 10s (50p) to buy lunches, clothes, shoes etc.

  • Well drat and bother. Doc says I need another week off as I'm healing slowly. Work will be very unimpressed. So will my bank balance come the end of next month. OH says forget the money and just relax. He said, that's why the overdraft is there, and if we have to go into it we have to go into it. We can pay it off once I'm back at work then focus on saving so we've got a safety net in future. He thinks I worry too much. I think he doesn't worry enough!

I'm SO pleased I got a prescription prepayment. I've had seven prescriptions now in as many days!!!!!!

Can I just say, it must be the nosy mare in me, I LOVE hearing about peoples' kitchens! I've always been the same though, even when it comes to history I think the minutiae of everyday life is a lot more interesting than learning all the kings and queens.
