Byatt Take care, there seems to be quite a few strange bugs about. I have had a cough now for about 3 weeks and it really gets on my nerves.

GFN123 I certainly have the January blues too and that will carry on until at least March. I used to love the long dark evenings when I was younger, but now I find myself dreading them. Too much time shut in pondering the problems, which is not good.

The pension retirement age thingy really annoys me. I paid the 'full stamp' too, when I married. My other married friends thought I was mad because I could have paid the married women's reduced stamp. I am fed up of thinking I am going to receive State Pension on a certain date, only to have it moved back (they've moved mine back twice now, as I am sure they have alot of people). So a total of 6 years added so far, making me 66 before I receive State Pension . It's ok to say, well people are living alot longer now, but if we have to keep on working until we're well into our senior years, some of us won't be living alot longer.

It's such a lovely day outside today I really should stop moaning:rotfl:

    Have a nice day everyone!

How insane is this!! Got my renewal for the house insurance from DIRECT LINE. Re-entered details on their web-site and got it for £55 pounds cheaper!! :D
Have checked, all excesses are the same and accidental damage is still covered! Talked to them and they could not match their own web-site. :rotfl:
So I am not re-newing with them just taking out exactly the same policy with them but on-line.!?!? It makes you wonder!

Could someone clever help me out with 'multi quoting please? I've clicked the button on the posts I wanted to quote, but nothing comes up when I 'post reply'. Am I being really dim? :o

GreyQueen - yay! Another non-TVer! I really love it, and I prefer to read/potter/eat anyway. Up until now I've always had one, but I haven't missed it a jot. I was definitely guilty before of getting in and just flopping in front of the TV, then finding the whole evening had vanished. Once my veggie patch is up and running, and it's lighter (if I hint every post, will it come quicker? :rotfl:) I'll be outside which will do me the world of good and ensure I stay [relatively] sane.

the cake my dream is to have a woodburning stove. OH is obsessed with getting one and I'm fairly sure if he can ever save up it'll be the first things he buys. Ironically his best friend is a tree surgeon but lives in a small rented flat. We have a stock of his logs etc in another friend's garage, but just can't afford the initial outlay for the stove, pipes and work at the moment. One day! :D

Thanks elizabunny Glad I'm not the only one (not glad you and others are struggling, IYKWIM, but at least not alone). The dark evenings are definitely my big downer.

((Hugs)) to all those with unwelcome dogs, blues and otherwise.

Still, it is actually a really lovely day. Good - I have been for a lunchtime stroll in the sun. Bad - I strolled to the shop to buy lunch as I forgot my leftover pack up :( Worse - my lunch has consisted of a scotch egg and a cinnamon roll, naughty GFN!

Work seems slow today. I have a meeting later (woohoo, not) but shoudl be escaping fairly early to collect OH and do the food shop. Then it's very much feet-up-Friday for us.

Have a good rest of day all :)

    Hi GFN

Which button are you clicking - it should be the coloured speech balloons one.

    Hi Lizzy

I went down and clicked the coloured ballons button on each post I was going to quote. When I was done reading I then hit 'post reply'. I got the reply box but no qoutes were in it!

  • Hi all!

Well, I have to go to the doc's at 3.30 before I find out if I can go back to work today or not. If I can it's going to be dead cheeky turning in late! Especially as my manager was in a meeting so I couldn't explain things face to face, I had to leave it in a voicemail. TBH though I feel like pooh today and wish I could just leave it until Monday. Where the hives were yesterday my joints really hurt today, it's very odd. And I have got some pain at the site of the surgery too. But I don't actually feel ill enough to be off sick, just bad enough that I wish I'd stayed in bed all day. Bah.

OH is cooking tea tonight either way - turkey cordon bleaurgh - we call it that because when we started creating low-fat recipes we kept experimenting with low-fat alternatives to the cheese, most of which either went rubbery or curdled or both. Not very nice at all. The name has stuck even though we've got the recipe sorted now :rotfl:

Lizzyb - that's cool I didn't know you could do multiple quotes until now!
  • All this talk of wood-burning stoves is making me feel resentful: I live in a flat as there's so much wood for the taking around here and I live in the outskirts of the Big Smoke.

I'm not a big TV-watcher and I could give it up completely as long as I still had my trusty but decrepit old Mac. It's not powerful enough for iPlayer or anything like that BUT my sister just gave me her "old" flat-screen telly and my landlord is in the process if installing some digital aerial so we're about to get Freesat for a whopping extra 60 pence a week on the rent. Still, that 144 quid for the license that comes around at the end of every January always makes me want to cry.

Black dogs: I know this is not the same for everyone: I do have a tendency to slip down onto the edge of the abyss from time to time myself. I know what causes it, it's anxiety that's the driver for me but I have found regular doses of St Johns Wort has made a huge difference to how I've been feeling. I've been dosed-up for a couple of years now and have been feeling a lot better. I can see that black dog in my peripheral vision but he's not showing any signs of wanting to come closer. If I can't keep him at bay I'll try to step up the dosage first.

Yellow-ball all present and correct here in North London. If I had some outside drying-space I'd be giving the washing-machine a thrashing right now.

Virtual hugs to all who need them and to those who think they don't just the same. Perhaps you could store them up for later when you do?

Got the yellow ball but it's blimmin freezing with it.

Right, is everyone ready? There have been some great unanswered questions over the years - crop circles, Shergar, Lord Lucan - none of which can hold a candle to that of the Great Stain Mystery.

I present, Ladies and Gentlemen, exhibit A - The Before picture:

Argh! for some reason I can't insert a picture! I'll have to do a linky

The after one is there too. Difference in colour is because I took one with the light on (before).

Does not look anything like Jesus, more like a slightly wonky map of Australia.

Anyway, it's now going in the wash. Watch this space!

Am at work and just taking a quick "lunch" break....just wanted to share with you that my organisation has blocked access to your linkies :rotfl:

Must be something dis-gusting, methinks :rotfl:

    Honestly! I despair...

I'll take a look later this evening and get my work-knackered brain started trying to discipher what could be going on.

I have about 21.5 years to go til I'm 67, but honestly am not expecting there to be a state pension by that time. I am expecting my money back from the govt though...:T

    Well....maybe not :(

Just quickly read the thread - hope all feeling low/poorly keep wrapped up warm and safe. Breathe and relax....

Back to work now :( Is it 5.30 yet?

    Afternoon peeps.

Please can someone talk some sense into me.

I volunteer at a charity and please can someone tell me why they are all ran by awful women with control issues??? How anyone sticks around is beyond me

[STRIKE]Haggedy old witch[/STRIKE] This lady had annoyed me but I need reminding I am not doing it for her and doing it for the cats. I have little to do with the people as the cats are at my house but this "little" interaction is more than enough for me.

    Sorry for the moan
