Sorry to hear that 7WW, I know only too well how difficult and worrying a sudden an unexplained illness in a parent (or child) can be, very stressful.

Hope the news is better today , have a dodgy hug! :grouphug:

I don't think ME and the festive season go well together. Either that or its the midwinter solstice. I'm so flat that I make a pancake look like plateau.

The post-festive period was always a bad time for me, I usually got into such a frenzy pre christmas, then the weather normally is so grim in Jan/Feb, I aways got the black dog.

Not quite so much frenzied activity this year, as not at work and cutting back drastically on spending, I did not worry about making sure we had everything in - we had just as good a time as ever, so what does that prove?:D

But still very down, will little interest in anything and a constant niggling feeling that there is something I should be worrying about, so I never feel relaxed.

I know by the spring I will be feeling much more positive, but I don't want to wait that long, I need to feel enthused now! :(

... Meant to say, P, blimey that would knacker me!

LOL yes I am pretty much permanently knackered. And now I'm in trouble with DH as reading all these o/s threads has led me to buy lots of cheap stuff from Approved Foods and the garage is already full. It's unbelievable how much space we need for business stuff - boxes of thin sandwich wedges, thick ones, baguette bags, film front bags, soup cups and lids, platters, 8 different boxes of crisps, drinks, chocolate bars...the list goes on and on. I work from home but I just take up a corner of one room!

I think the stresses and strains of midwinter get to a lot of people. Makes you realise how precarious happiness can be. St John's Wort is good for getting me back on track, I find.

    Roll on spring.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

It's a question of balance :) at first you tend to go mad and every time you read a post where somebody's got something - you have to run out and buy it. It calms down with time LOL

Hope you get good news soon 7 Week Wonder. We've had quite a few medical emergencies in the family in the last couple of months so can identify with the need for distraction.
Please can we start 2012 again, as so far it isn't going according to plan!

Am sitting here shattered waiting for the tea to kick in! We were at the local hospital until after 1 this morning after my mum collapsed at home earlier in the evening. They've kept her in cos they still don't know what happened, but the good news is it almost definitely wasn't a stroke as her brain scan was ok.

Fortunately I'd planned to take today off (we were supposed to be taking mum home after the holidays). So right now I'm trying to keep occupied until I can phone the hospital later this morning. I forsee a lot of mindless tidying and pottering for the next couple of hours or so.

Please keep the banter coming - I need distracting!

7ww - I hope your mum is alright. Not easy keeping calm. Waiting is a horrible game.

    Hi everyone,

7WW, positive thoughts for your mum; hope you get some answers.

I had another rough night; kept hearing rustling sounds which stopped as soon as I put the light on. Pooch was no help; kept looking at me like this.

Have to go out shortly, not by choice. Had a bounced chq from one of my clients; hasn't helped my bank account. :(

    Wind has died down considerably.

I made a bread pudding last night with left overs and best before dates long gone..set fire to it though when the baking paper touched the electric bars (I have a small table top oven)...thought it was going to be my last stand! :o:eek:

Must go and brush my hair today; forgot yesterday and answered the door looking like I'd been in a wind tunnel! :rotfl:
