I have a confession to make - I can finally pee standing up like a bloke, thanks to one of these which will be a lifesaver on long walks . So sorry if TMI but I always seem to be limited to 1-2 hours radius & am fed up with flashing strangers  when I think I'm being discrete. Maybe I drink too much tea (is there such a thing as too much tea?)....

    .

Oooh - thanks for that link Gardenia - My DH knows that as soon as we've been out walking for about 1/2 hour I want to pee - its a standing (or sitting) joke that I've fertilised half of Hampshire & West Sussex! I did like the note about facing away from the wind......;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Must go and brush my hair today; forgot yesterday and answered the door looking like I'd been in a wind tunnel! :rotfl:

Byatt, I hope that was just an oversight and not part of a bigger picture, because it made me :rotfl:

On my first day back at work this week, I realised at teatime that I'd not brushed the twins' hair all day so I set them to play hairdressers. :D

As far as sleeping in goes, I think there must be something in the air as I too struggled to sleep last night, then woke just before ten. Lucky I don't work on Fridays. :o

Have to take down the decs today. :(

  • hi guys,
I've been quiet - having nothing positive to contribute. Seem to be flat as a pancake also - everything aches, my mind is in a muddle and I can't think which way to turn first, so turning towards the teapot!!

I find when I get "run down" my arthritis flares, the psoriasis that comes with it attacks my feet and the inside of my mouth feels tender - just need to potter for a while until I perk up.

I'm taking down the decs today - should have done them yesterday but had a long day at work - and then some knitting. As some may know I have a small craft business (makes it sound bigger than it is) which I love, but am feeling like I would be better placed making the things we need, and pressies for next christmas instead - I'm feeling more and more like money-saving is more beneficial than money-making - trouble is I get a huge kick out of selling small items i've made. Don't really have time for both though, as want to make a better fist of the garden this year.

Scotch pancakes - lovely warm if you make them with a little syrup - we never put eggs in (allergic) and they are still lovely straight from the pan.

Yarn shop linky earlier looks lovely! I'm very jealous. My fav shops are woolfish in St Abbs, one I cannot remember the name of in Clapham (yorkshire) and a fabby craft shop I found on my last trip south in Ramsbotham (did I spell that right?).

Ginny hope OH is getting better, and the extra strain is not telling on you

It's actually dry here for the first time today, although I can see the rain coming in over the loch as I look over my shoulder - guess I spoke too soon. Off to get in the laundry

    WCS
  • Thanks for your good wishes everyone. I've just phoned the hospital and when I asked for an update they put me through to mum who sounded not too bad. I gather they are going to keep her in for a few days to try and get to the bottom of it, but so far so good.

And all this keeping myself busy has been good for me. So far I've: baked bread, done washing, done the recyling and filed all my financial bumph from last year.

Hope everyone else's day is ok ahd hugs to all those who are feeling down.

Have just opened a letter that made me cry - in a good way.

Most of you know that DS7 had some terrible trouble at school before Christmas - well one of the big problems has been that whilst DS is considered to be ASD, he is still awaiting a piece of paper to make it official. However he is still taught in a specialist unit (as the people who make the diagnosis were happy to confirm to the education dept that he would get the paper it just takes them ages to do!).
Whilst I was ill both OH and my dad had several run ins with his teacher (supposedly an special needs teacher) who kept shouting that it wasnt ASD just behavioural. Apparently she has told the head that the problems with Ds are due to behaviour not ASd and that as he is being treated in school "properly" for an ASd child they arent getting anywhere due to him not being ASD.

Last week I received the letter for the final meeting where the decision would be given but it was four weeks away - so I rang and asked for it to be brought forward or at least an informal yes or no could be given beforehand and explained school issues. The case worker was lovely and said that she could give a yes or no a they were still collating evidence.

On to today when I received the letter which is a copy of a letter sent to school addressed to DS teacher which basically says that whilst she cant formally declare yet, that any child whose scores were as high as DS invariably went to receive a full diagnosis. She has hand written a little note on top saying hope this helps and included a smiley face!!

This means I can go into school and have full meeting with the head and show her the letter and get stuff in place whilst his teacher is off sick. More importantly its going to make teacher look a fool as she has repeatedly told anyone who will listen that in her "expert" opinion there is no way in hell DS will be declared ASD.

The relief is immense - which I wanted to share with you all as you were so supportive before Christmas when I couldnt see how to move on. :) Thank you all once again. :)

On a MS note am taking myself to MR S when OH gets home from work as I am told large soap powders are on special!! May well buy 4 which I think will last us 8 months (going to get DS13 to stash them at back of loft while OH at work tomorrow so he cant complain). Will call into MR A later as I am told fabric softener on offer too :)

    Morning all

The sun is shining hee - amazing and NO WIND!! THe chooks think they have gone to heaven and have even left me some eggs this morning :)

January is always a funny month, its the depths of winter when all we have to look forward to is spring and sometimes it seems a loooong way off. Have to confess I bought some daffs yesterday when I was out shopping, always seems like there is hope that way somehow!

Kidcat - really chuffed for you, its always a relief when you can do SOMETHING to help your kids, even if all that is sometimes is breathing down the neck of the teacher (have had to do that myself several times)

Today not a particularly exciting day just decluttering more bits as I go, and doing some baking so hope everyone has a lovely day and hugs to all that need them x
