oooh, you've set me off on a craving now WPP - and no, I haven't got a bun in the oven either (or even a cake - bad Bobby, call yourself OS and you've not baked today!:o) - only my craving is for scotch pancakes.
Never made 'em before though so has anyone got a reliable recipe please? Also, I guess you need a griddle for them but ain't got one of those either, so can I use a frying pan?
Thanks in advance, I'm sure one of you lovelies will be able to advise me.
Can't see a reply, and sorry its so late but been out spending
Scotch Pancakes
100g Self Raising Flour
50g Caster Sugar
Pinch Salt
1 Med Egg
60mls ( 4tblsp) Milk
Put Flour, Sugar and Salt into a bowl, add the Egg and then add enough Milk to mix to a thick batter.
Supposed to be cooked on a well oiled hot griddle, but I do not have one, and neither did the person that orginally posted this recipe on the forum so I like her used a well oiled frying pan ( non stick without the oil doesn't really work)
For a normal size frying pan add three as they spread a bit and you don't want them touching, small pan just one or two. Cook them till bubbles appear at the top then flip them over and cook other side - take about 3 mins in all.
You should make about 12 medium sized pancakes from this.
If you want to fancy them up you can add raisins, lemon juice( reduce the milk), vanilla essence or anything you fancy.
They taste delicious and as far as me and hubby are concerned as better than bought.....Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Cor, thanks MG and PAH, they sound delicious. Unfortunately our power has been off for a while so have only just got back online and guess what, the craving has gone off me now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I have copied the recipies for the weekend because I am going to have to have a go at making them.:D Love the idea of adding raisins etc, I feel an experimenting session coming on, goodness help my waistline though.

AND if anyone does the double cream into HM butter trick, the buttermilk left afterwards is brilliant for using for drop scones (AKA Scotch pancakes) or for making ordinary scones
That's what I did with my buttermilk and I froze half the pancakes for another day.
Also anyone making pancakes might want to try the Hairy Bikers Banana Pancakes, which are served with streaky bacon and maple syrup. Totally LUSH breakfast, and only a little more complicated. The recipe is available online of you google.

Well I wont be doing the HM butter thing anytime soon, coop 600m DC back up to £2.10 a carton, and I never seem to catch it cheaper - I should have got some at £1.20 :mad::mad:.
OH moaning at me about getting into car to drive to coop, but he does not understand that I need to check on a daily basis :rotfl:.
I should walk, but I am being very lazy, it is not far but up a long steep hill, and if I am laidened down with whoopsies I might not get down again (my excuse anyway!) I will walk when the weather is a bit better, I can't stand the recriminations.
All being well we will be able to collect the van on Saturday, so time to start seriously thinking about the menu - any ideas what people might buy from a F&C van that is home-made? We need a USP!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Its simple Mrs Chip, tell him you will ring him to pick you up if you score well with the whoopsies - he will not moan, he wil say 'No dear, you take the car ' as if it was his idea all along :rotfl: or get a bag on wheels like I didClearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
Trolley looks a very good idea, but it's my little legs that are the problem, going up not too bad (with stops at regular points to admire the view
) but coming back down really knackers the back of my legs, and they ache for days after
. Totally due to lack of use I am sure, and I should not be such a wuss!
Also, I would have to pass the wool shop twice if I walk, and I just can't trust myself to pass by without just going in for a peek at all the lovely treasures in there.
Just before christmas was there with Mrs OG and much admired a beautiful sheer scarf knitted from one ball of yarn in lovely colours. £17.99 a ball :eek::eek:. Wonderful Mrs OG bought one as a surprise for me for xmas, and is knitting it up for me.
Shop is evil as they also do delicious hot chocolate in their coffee shop! and they ask if you want cream and marshmallows with it.
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0
