Sammy_kaye, lovely to see you back again.

I hadn't managed to read for a while and then when I came back read something about evoo. So a question - how much do I need to use? Do I need to massage it in for ages or will a quick rub in do?

Would be great if all I needed to do was rub a little olive oil in and wipe off with a warm damp flannel. No extras. Sounds too good to be true. Have I got it wrong?

Hugs to everyone having a hard time. Have quickly skimmed through so cant remember names, sorry.

    Esther x

I use a teaspoon of oil, massage it in well and leave it as long as I can - could be 10 seconds, could be 10 minutes and then wipe off with face cloth in hot water. If i have time and inclination, i have the cloth steaming hot and pop it over my face like a face mask. I have definitely noticed an improvement after about 2 weeks. I sometimes use a vitamin E oil mixed with baby oil, but only cos i bought it a while ago and can't bear it to go to waste. Others have recommended coconut oil or almond oil.

Back home after my travels. Had an 80th birthday for dad which was a massive success and we have vowed to do it again for brothers 40th in the summer. Drove back via SIL on OH side and that was lovely too.

Really glad to be home though. Have brought favourite niece home with us for a few days, but she is no trouble, in fact she is an absolute joy to have in the house. She is 14 but doesn't do the teenagey bit with us - she saves that for her own parents :rotfl:

Dad was trying to convince me this morning that Greece wasn't part of Europe, then he said "Are you trying to tell me Spain is part of Europe too?" :rotfl:No, he isn't senile - just cantankerous.

    hi there.
i've just found this thread and think it's a really nice idea.we all need somewhere to come for some encouragement sometimes and don't realy feel that posting on the more mainstream threads is appropriate.i'm single and i don't talk about my money problems with anyone and think that sometimes it would be nice to have people to bounce ideas of or have someone say 'STOP' thats a terrible idea don't do that..:)

Hi greenanne welcome aboard. There are allsorts on here - lots of families, couples, singles, very young to, er, more mature years. We've all had our share of hard times and done our share of daft things and have come out the other side. No judgements but plenty of experience and advice - even if you don't want it :D

  • SDG, maybe the gifts were a misjudgement, my DD would buy me a mug like that & I'd love it, but that's just me. I have the sort of sense of humour that appreciates that sort of thing, but, I do not inflict my humour on others unless I'm certain it will be acceptable.
A few years ago I did a birthday collection for a colleague I didn't know very well, she asked for M&S vouchers & that's what I got her, but there was £2 leftover, as I was visiting Harrods at thee weekend (birthday gift fron my DD) I bought her a tube of Harrods mints, a bit like Elizabeth Shaw mints. On the day of her birthday she was too afraid to open the gift wrapped mints, she thought the phallic shape might contain something rude. I did reassure her that I would not inflict my sense of humour on her & eventually she was persuaded to open them. I am well aware that my humour isn't shared by everyone, but maybe you sil doesn't realise.

Ragz- am definitely interested in your weight loss thingy - will it be idiot proof? never having done anything similar I am guessing I need the dummies version. :D

Dummies version - Eat less + Move more = Weight loss or
Output > Input = Weight loss

Unfortunately that oversimplifies it and makes it sound easy :rotfl:
Which is why we have the thread and the challenge and all the support and tips that brings. Do join us, there's no rules (though anyone smuggling Softstuff's baked goods into the thread will be mugged once we sniff them out...)

Thanks everyone for the advice about the cheques, I have all fingers crossed they may arrive today and if not I will have to get DH to ask for his to be cancelled and rewritten... How do you cancel a cheque?

LAST DAY OF 2011!!! How was it for you?? What are you looking for in 2012? Will it get tougher or easier ??
  • Esther, Parsons - nice to see you both too

Lizzie - yes my littlie really is 17 months old now.

Gailey - yes I have been couponing. I did manage to get a fair few bits either much cheaper or discounted at least and saved myself a fair bit on a shop. I did manage to get 9 boxes of cereal completely FREE which was nice and we are still eating them now!

Greenanne - welcome. like lizzy said it is a nice little group of regulars who live in various circumstances and through various age ranges so we all have our own ideas, hints and tips but we always like new friends to join.

Well last day of 2011 and Im sick as a dog. Throat is horribly sore, head feels like it may explode at any minute and my nose is running. And joy of joys I will have 3 children and Owen to look after later and Im working tomorrow from 10am - 4pm.

and to top it off I had lots of plans for today and now no energy to do them. :-(
    Time to find me again

Well, it's been and up and down year, which has gone so fast, it's unbelievable!

I started off full of good intentions; lose weight, be tidier etc, but nothing really happened. I did come to terms with living in a 200yr old cottage which is the size of a shoebox (truly), and damp and cold in the winter. I've started a business, which is slowly taking off and I hope 2012 will bring more clients.

Financially I am very much worse off and have no buffer at all. It's likely to get worse unless business improves.

I want to lose weight still and get fitter; too many health problems aggravated by stress and worry.

I've overcome my fear of the dark and driven up country lanes like a rally driver :rotfl:

I would like to start crafting but I'm not really talented but simple things might be ok.

I'd like to not be so affected by my ex's shenanigans and to bring the light back into my eyes which he took away.

All in all, I am quietly positive but that's because of you wonderful people who accept me for who I am and somehow find the right things to say to make me feel better and importantly, to laugh out loud.

Greenanne, welcome :A Also welcome to all newbies to this thread.
