Just a thought - could you tell your Granddad a wee white lie - that the cheque had been destroyed, and could he cancel it and send you another one?
Mardatha - we are definitely in danger of floating away here. I am so fed up of either howling gales or sleety rain ( mind you I see that next week we hit the jackpot and get both!). Immodium seems to be doing the trick, but I was very suprised at the cost.
I buy the cheap Tesco or other big store's brand, they are usually around a £1 for 6 capsules. I actually don't like Immodium or it doesn't work as well as the cheaper ones for me anyway.
Ragz, did Nat West actually say they were posted Christmas Eve? Or were they put in the post out tray or sack? When were they actually collected by the post office?
Had the not so good news from my DD that her dad will probably bring her home. It will be the first time he has been to her place and I know it's her place, but I hate the thought of him being there. Plus I will have to go and remove anything that could be traced to where I live.
Last day of the cat sitting, so hopefully will start on the tidying and decluttering tomorrow at my place. One of "my" cats is a loveable, purring moggy who rubs against me for cuddles...and then strikes!! He's managed to catch me with his claws each time; I am sucked in by his purring! Gloves might be a good idea next time :rotfl:0 -
I think that accepting and acknowledging that I am a full time carer is suddenly hitting me, not sure why now, it just is.
Kidcat, those moments come along at odd times; it's as if the mind is able to suddenly cope better with the reality; it's a drip drip thing. I know I would have optmistic, overly optimistic and reality checks at various times. Even now my dd is an adult I have optimistic moments some justified. I always aimed for the best scenario and involved her in many (if not all) activities and encouraged her to be independent (that sometimes comes back to bite me in the bvm!) and she has done many things; she has also been to Buckingham Palace (I wasn't invited ) and spoken to Prince Phillip.
But it is hard work and a lot of worry even though done with love. :A0 -
I have sat and read all the xmas updates on the this thread this afternoon and I am hooked! I feel so humbled by the terrible experiences some of you have had to endure this xmas and really do extend my best wishes to all of you, lets hope 2012 is a better year for all.

Morning everyone, its pouring with rain here after gales yesterday.
Its been a long hard few days for us, and reading through it seems like its the same for us all.
Have been off visiting relatives past two days and DS7 has not taken to it at all and has really played up, leading to one very tired and stressed mummy. My parents both came to one but only my mum yesterday.
On the plus side I now have curtain rails over the french doors in the dining room:j:j but no curtains yet.
No wages in bank today and after Margarets post yesterday must admit to being slightly spooked, but OH assures me it will be tomorrow its just that they always pay late after a bank holiday.
Two nights ago, was devastated when DD5 cut off her long hair, (waist length) due to a random comment OH had made about her being like Rapunzel! I know in the whole scheme of things its not alot but it seemed like the last straw for me. Am feeling incredibly tired and down. Responsibility is weighing heavy at the moment and trying to explain it to OH is not getting anywhere - the fact is I am spending 24 hours a day caring for a family on top of which it includes two ASd kids, both of whom are incredibly difficult. And as DS7 now only responds to my authority - that means I do not get any break at all.
Ironically I took half an hour last night when littlies were in bed to visit my friend who has lost her mum, and felt useless as I just cried with her for the main part. We did talk through the arrangements and I have offered to help with anything and arranged to collect her youngest from school on funeral day. But whilst I was out there was a power outage and I had stupidly dropped my phone in car so was out of contact.
OH had no idea how to cope and ended up calling my dad to deal with it all. I was hoping it would show him that he is needs to be much more aware of stuff and involved with practicalities, but it led to him shouting at me for not being more organised!!
NOt sure how much more organised I can be - there are candles on living room window sill, bathroom window sill, on top of kitchen cupboards, in hall, ensuite and downstairs bathroom. Matches and lighters in kitchen drawer. The torches he has taken into loft and not returned (5 now!) Plug in phone in bedroom works and kids portable DVD player was charged in cupboard as normal.
I have told both him and eldest two where everything is its just unfortunate that DS13 has a memory issue that means he doesnt retain information and DD17 was out.
Sorry for the moan - off to drag kids to look at curtains - probably a recipe for disaster but the chills through the dining room are really bothering me.
Big hugs kidcat sounds like you going through rough time of it.
Cant remeber thourght you had 3kids is it more?
Must be so hard can anyone help lighten your load maybe babysit or run errands for you.
You sound like you need a nice glass of wine and soak in bath.
Hair will grow back in time.
What support you getting with the 2 with asd?
As maybe theres something overlooked that you not getting?
My stepson 13 not asd but very naughty now attends special educational unit and his mothers been offered respite foster care.
My brother was severly handicapped and went into respite.
Someone I know has disabled son who says respite such a help she loves him but sometimes she needs a break just to function.
maybe discuss with dh how best he can do to support you.
I get annoyed its always me up in the night.
Hope wages were sorted out

Gailey- sheds are easy enough to put up, but need a good base, and it can be as expensive to put base down as to buy the shed. Also you need to consider whether landlord will be happy you digging up his garden for a shed base. We had a patio area at bottom of garden we have used, with new shed and another off freecycle. So not too bad cost wise. Downside is that we have to wander down garden in dark to get stuff.0

Sammy-kaye - your youngest is how old? 17 months? Where the heck did that go? Welcome back by the way.
Re drills - I've got a Black & Decker cordless that is a drill/screwdriver/jigsaw/sander kit and I get on very well using it. My last use was to attach my lean-to greenhouse to the side of my house - me and a drill up a ladder  Very proud of myself afterwards.
I wouldn't think cables would be running across the top of window frames so curtain rails etc should be OK to fix - I've not had any problems doing mine in the past."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Sammy_kaye, lovely to see you back again.
I hadn't managed to read for a while and then when I came back read something about evoo. So a question - how much do I need to use? Do I need to massage it in for ages or will a quick rub in do?
Would be great if all I needed to do was rub a little olive oil in and wipe off with a warm damp flannel. No extras. Sounds too good to be true. Have I got it wrong?
Hugs to everyone having a hard time. Have quickly skimmed through so cant remember names, sorry.

Hi 7 week, hope your feeling better now. I think I may have had the same nasty little burger of a virus. Went on for 7 days before I went to the Dr. Got told not to bother with immodium, that it traps the virus. She said to force myself to eat little and often and that it is something to do with the good bacteria in the gut having been stripped out.
Nasty little thing has now left me low so I have caught hubbys cold, turned into a chest infection and n ow on antibiotics. Donating myself to the nearest glue factory, but hear even they are getting choosey.
GEt well soon
