:T @ Greyqueens religion involving baked goods.....please can I be a minor diety over pans....I'll readily share this role but I feel it's kind of an awakening, I love pans and they just feel.so.right.:D

True story ;) yesterday I went out to become another helpless soul in the drive to find 'gifts' for christmas, found myself in TK Maxx and was - I can only describe it as like an out of body experience, like it was meant.to.be.- drawn to the kitchen stuff area aka heaven and purchased at a very large discount, a mermaid baking pan/tray.:happylove

That's all I came home with, Merry Christmas one and all, especially me.:rudolf:

    Synchronicity eh?

Anyhoos, aside from all this love talk I wanted to wish Taurus a speedy recovery and painfree vibes and huge dollops of whatever it takes to get her there.

Fuddle, I also suffered a decade of living in a village where I didn't fit in, its so last century all that snootiness.

My observations were that everyone basically hated each other. The ones who had lived there for centuries hated the 'new money' who moved in and collectively they all hated me....:rotfl:
It's very oppessive living somewhere like that but I found having a very wide circle of friends helped as did moving 250 miles away.

Times are achanging in Triker Towers as the team I work for is no longer as of March next year. Cutbacks etc, etc. We were informed last week and HR are coming tomorrow to 'officially' let us know....yup, cheers for that, timing fab.:wall:

So it's reassess lifes direction time and whilst a little bit scary I admit its also a bit exciting. Having thought about some of the situations I've dealt with in life, this is no more than a deep itch on the bum of life.:D

So coffee for me and then a day of *staring into space*....being a dedicated and hardworking employee of the local authority.....who has been binned off.

:D OK, Triker is now officially part of the pantheon of my new Baked Goods religion. Huzzzah :j

Triker is to be found on the righ-hand pedestal below the dais where Softstuff's graven image holds sway, garlanded by multi-coloured muffin cases.

Like our principal goddess, the Triker effigy will be fashioned from sugarpaste not sure if there's enough sugar in the UK, I'm all woman with some spare ;)so that in times of famine we can resort to spititual cannibalism.

The Goddess Triker is prepared to accept offerings of all forms of cookware except stainless steel saucepans, awwwww , well can I have a share in cast iron pans then, I like them lots and lots :heartpuls:grinheartwhich are the exclusive province of High Priestess GreyQueen aka La Grande Fromage. I'll be a dairylea triangle.

Worship is on a daily basis at 3.50 pm when the congregation will gather with their home-baked goodies to celebrate High [STRIKE]Tea.[/STRIKE] coffee.

    Kettle's on!

:) And I'm off (my head) and off to w*rk. See ya later.

:rotfl:Catch up with you goddesses later. Hope you all have a decent day.

To say I understood a word of the above would be an understatement.... I chuckled anyway ;):)

Hey Triker, you have hit the nail so to speak there. I get the feeling that the locals b*tch and back bite about each other and are in competition with one an other right down to whose washing is the whitest on the line. It reminds me of secondary school behaviour. Seems they have never progressed in life, never really learning just what is important. To be pitied I suppose.

Says quietly because it is so not MSE but any of you who have sky (and not a real fire) click 'Anytime' on your planner and select winter warmer logfire.... I have a real fire blazing and crackling on my TV screen. It's heaven I tell you and the very first thing I would like when/if I get my own home again. Ahhhhhh. DH and I sat in complete peace and darkness last night, with that crackling away. Calmness and contentment. I envy you all with a real fire. I know they're hard work and messy so-and-so's but I would swap this LL's electric thing, pretty as it is, anyday!
  • Morning all: Taurus:I'm sending the strongest hugs in my collection, hope you get better soon.
    Meanwhile...have a laff :rotfl:
Really good recipe for Xmas cake:
    Ingredients:
    2 cups of flour
    8oz butter
    1 cup water
    1tsp baking soda
    l cup sugar
    Lemon Juice
    4 large eggs
    Nuts
    2 bottles wine
    2 cups dried fruit.

Sample the wine to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the wine again. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the wine is still OK. Try another cup...just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chcuk in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the !!!!!!!g fruit off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the wine to check for tonsisyticy. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the wine. Now shift the the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window..finish the wine and wipe counter with the cat.
Take a taxi to Tesco and buy cake.
    Bingle Jells everyone!
    Normal people worry me.

Fuddle - the only thing I can add to everyone's great advice re the snobby cows it that my New Year's resolution is to be less judgemental of others. Not in the way that they were to you, but more the opposite. I would tend to pity and judge those people who spoil their kids by giving them far too much money, buy them nintendo DS's when they are 3 years old and spend thousands on Christmas. I would judge someone who bought JL hampers because they can't be bothered to make their own. I judge people buying new sofas on credit they can't afford when I am happy to get mine for free (yes, I did say this in the playgournd to all the mums the other day!). I judge the people who buy fancy cakes for school bake sales instead of making their own. I judge my friends who buy things on credit, get argos cards or fancy phones on £30+ pm contracts. I shake my head in pity and sadness at their ignorance...

I am very judgemental in a kind of inverse snobbery.... it is something I plan to work on next year. I am sure these people have good reasons for not being like me and if they want to waste their money that's their issue. I'm not being sarcastic, I really do think I have a problem!

Stardrops - I have ordered that book on Amazon, it looks great.

GreyQueen - I would LOVE to join your baked goods religion. Just don't make me priestess of moderation and self control, I would fail miserably!

Softstuff - about to try your fudge recipe (found your blog yesterday btw, very nice!) without the walnuts. Need to make fudge for christmas gifts and so far it has all failed in some way (not to say it was wasted of course!) so this is my last chance!

Taurus - huge hugs and I really hope you're home for Christmas xx

Happy Solstice Everyone - longest day today, from here onwards we welcome the light back into our lives!
