Phew - that's a relief wmf. I've got a bit of a thing going with pup at the moment but think that things will run their course so to speak - he swallowed an earring a couple of days ago, silly beggar  Not as bad as my last dog who swallowed a beer bottle top - never saw that again but vet was completely unconcerned. Anyway, glad she's back and hope your appetite recovers soon."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

No sure if there are different jam makers - did a quick internet search and found a tefal one for £67, you could get a bread machine for that and have a machine that can be used for jam, bread, cakes, dough etc - even if you don't want to do bread at the moment, its always an option. Might not be suitable for you, but just an idea.
Thanks for that actually have a bread machine and it has jam making but seems complex and only makes small amounts.
My freind has the tefal and says idiot proof and makes loads.

Someone forgot to tell us - The world is about to end - I went to Mr S for my cooking bacon and OMG :eek::eek: recession what recession? Champagne, booze and mountains of expensive food :eek: And we can all move into the New Year in the sure and certain knowledge we don't have debts from Christmas. I actually gave a woman advice on freezing her whoopsied bread flour to kill any bugs :rotfl: I promise not to go any further than my local tiny Mr A if I have forgotten anything nowClearing the junk to travel light

What really irks me this time of year, is that there is no normal food on special offers anymore. Even Lidl does the: "Luxury for everybody" thing, with loads of expensive christmas foodstuffs.. I mean, c'mon!.. luxury choccies and bites.. flipping expensive small cuts of meat..
Silly
I went food shopping today and it was mayhem! crowded supermarkets.. frustrated and rushed people, mountains of expensive food and booze.. and here's me with just my regular foodshop. LOL!
We are spending christmas day with our neighbours (their son's birthday) and then off to my dad for dinner. Boxing day (called second christmas day here in holland) we are at my mum's. So there's no cooking big dinner for me! WHOOHOO!!
But it's madness to just do your regular shopping.. and you should see it... people buy silly amounts of food before christmas.. the shops are closed christmas day and boxing day.. OH SHOCK!!.. people stock up as if they are about to be snowed in for weeks... but right after christmas, the shops are swamped AGAIN!!.. and the whole madness starts over to prepare for new years..(big party here in Holland)
I have always found that silly. Even before i went OS.0 -

Oh Softstuff I made another 60 of those mincemeat melts as I call them as the dough just melts in the mouth, should I hope keep hubby going for a few days. Sorry correct name gone from mind, and want to make some of those bicuits today - note to self you need more cake tins as no where to put what you have baked as ones I have are filled with scones and cake. I plan to freeze some of the melts today ( they were still warm when I came up last night and to achy to go back down later)
Stay warm and safe folks[/QUOTE]
Do you have the recipe for these pleaseStarting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

By special request of GQ, here are a couple of biccie recipes for Christmas (I didn't dare refuse her, I can imagine how she is when she's short of sugar and it takes a braver person than me to stand in her way lol!)
Fruit Mincemeat Drops
100g melted butter
1/2 cup raw sugar (or ordinary granulated)
3/4 cup self raising flour
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Mix these well, until it forms a dough. Roll ping pong ball sized pieces, then smush them down on the baking tray with your finger to make an indent. Fill the little indent with a teaspoon of fruit mincemeat. Bake for 15 minutes at 180.
You can of course fill the indent with jam, or lemon curd, or honey. Or you can switch the vanilla essence for almond essence and pop a ball of marzipan in the indent. Your options are as unlimited as my weight gain will be if I keep baking like this....
These are ridiculously fast and easy, freeze well and keep for up to a week.
Spiced Christmas Cookies
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
75g butter
1/4 cup honey
Cream the butter, sugar and honey. Add the flour and spices, mix well. Chill for 30 mins (or freeze if you want some ready to bake dough), roll out, cut, bake for 10 mins at 180.
Hope that helps someone.
