:eek:OMG. Has noone else tried the spiced cookies yet? Just got my first batch out of the oven. They are without doubt the nicest biscuits I have ever eaten.:T

    Glad you like them.

There is always the possibility that I'm posting these recipes in order to fatten you all up and encourage you to join my "Weight World" slimming club in January :rotfl: I'm only kidding, but what a marketing ploy that would actually be!

I have a turkey to roast today. So no sweet goodies. Tomorrow we're out for hubbies Christmas work lunch, which is at a very posh hotel and it's a BUFFET! There's nothing I like more than a hotel buffet :rotfl:

Would anyone like a recipe for some spiced muffins? Or is that overkill?

You could make soup with the peas Byatt - fry off an onion and a bit of garlic, chuck in the peas with some veg or chicken stock and simmer until soft. If you have some fresh herbs - mint, coriander or parsley, they can go in as well, or a bit of red chilli. Whizz it up with a stick blender and adjust the seasoning - lovely!

btw, I think you said a while ago your dog is on meds - do you know about getting a script from the vet and buying drugs online, it is much cheaper, I do it for our cat's thyroid pills and save loads.

    Thanks for the soup recipe.

I had heard about the online meds and know they are cheaper. My vet however, acts all weird when I ask for a prescription and so far haven't got one, but will try again. I know you have to be safe online, but I would go to a reputable site. Do vets make any money on the meds? It costs around £53 a time for about 6 weeks meds.

Some good news! The ongoing saga re: cold childrens rooms? Well, my mil mentioned she has a new rug on order and needs to get to the tip to throw the old one. Woah, rewind misses. Please can I have it? :D So tomorrow we're picking up a very large Persian style orange rug. It will fit all throughout the room with only 3 inches bare round the edge. It will not go with the decor but non of us mind, not least the little one. I was thinking of crocheting a cover for it but no clue how I would attach it. Maybe glue it on?

Anyway. Its a bit of a result :)

Fuddle - well done, having lived in cold rented houses I truly sympathise. House but last we were getting ready to pay to replace rads with more powerful ones, at our expense, then we moved. We tried everything else with no avail. Rather than crochet a cover can you dye it?

Vets do make a lot from meds. By law they have to give you a prescription if you ask, but they can charge - my vet charges a tenner . But I get a repeat prescription for the biggest pack of the pills (100), and then buy them online. Even with the prescription fee I save loads (vet charges £15 for 30 tabs, pot of 100 is I think £16.70!!!). I use petmedsonline, as that is where the tabs I need are cheapest and the postage rate is very good, but it is worth hunting the online stores for the best deal. They will send both pots of tabs at the same time, saving postage.

I get my brother's dog's insulin syringes from there too, they work out less than half the price his vet charges.

Fuddle - hope the rug makes a difference. I wouldn't worry about the colour for now, and if it works, think about how you can work with the colour. In the summer you can always roll it up out of the way. Have you thought of doing what tugrin did and trying to get some carpet on fee cycle for the other room? Also radiators - bleed all of them regularly and you'll learn where the air goes in your system (bizarrely mine is the kitchn rad, even though the bathroom one is the highest on the system) and what order they heat up in. Balancing the system can help too. Also check that they are heating up at the bottom properly. If the top is hot and the bottom cold, there is sludge in them, which you can clear out yourselves when it is a little warmer. It took us about three hours and a couple of damp mishaps :o when we forgot to close valves when refilling the system!

Bubble wrapped window panes are significantly less cold and draughty than ones that haven't been done, but I've done all the ones I'm prepared to do. I have more bits of bubble wrap left, so I did wonder whether to make uo a sheet I could stick up behind a blind at night when I close the curtains ...

Slow cooker is in the utility room which keeps it nice and warm. So if it gets very cold I'll have to make lots of slow-cooked soups and casseroles!

Thanks...I think my vet said around £10 charge, which shocks me really. When you say repeat, do you have to send a new script in every time at £10?

No, I get them to write a script which says 100 x Felimazole plus 1 repeat, this is about 5 month's worth of tabs.

I scan this and send it to Petmedsonline via an email and then I can go onto the site and place my order for 2 x 100 pots, which are sent in one package, saving a second posting (I used to buy one pot and they held onto the repeat bit until I ordered again - then I put my brain in gear and asked if the repeat could be sent out right away and they were happy to do this).

Getting the repeat and making the script out to the max you can buy is the the way to maximise your £10 script fee, which I think is outrageous too!

Thanks, that's great advice! I will be empowered when I go to my vet now and will ignore the withering looks I get! You would think I had asked for something dreadful; even the receptionists look horrified. It's a large vet too so would have thought they had lots of people asking. Thanks so much. :)
