Hi,
My Kids School is open next week , except the class which one of my sons is in. My son usually goes to After School Club on Wednesday, so I am wondering if I will get invoiced for that day. I will ask them about it later, but I imagine that they will still send me a bill
.

If they say you'll get billed for the day, could you have a word with the head and ask why they're not getting a supply teacher in for the day. It seems silly to keep the whole school open, except one class.0

I may be wrong about this, but I was under the impression that if the head is themself part of a union as most heads are, that they are not allowed by their unions to bring in staff from outside to cover strikers.0

Does the school run the club or is it an out sourced agency? I wouldn't be paying personally.the striking staff won't get paid so there's no justification in paying if its school run. If its agency run then I would expect the service to be run.0

From what I can gather from other threads, the school cannot use agency staff to cover the teachers strikes.
is the after school club run by the teachers?0 -
It's supposedly a 'not for profit' organisation.

If it's one class out of the school, why aren't they distributing the children into other classes for the day?
If the after school club isn't available then I'd definitely quibble about paying. If the club organisers are officially linked to the school then I think there are grounds to complain about paying regardless.Shrinking my mortgage!

No I wouldnt pay.0

You'll need to check the contract for the after school club, but I imagine that you would have to pay just as you would if the school was closed for snow etc. The after school club will still need to pay its staff after all.0

You will probably have to pay, as normally with things like that (depending on your cintract) you have to give notice, or pay to keep the place open. I'm not sure what happens when there is a strike or a forced shut due to weather etc, I would talk to the head about it.0

If the school was closed due to the snow the staff would still be entitled to be paid but people on strike won't be paid.0
