Makeup does bother me, I want to know what's wrong with our faces as they are! I try to take pride in my behaviour generally as that's more important, my appearance is just random genetics.0 -

Do you know my history or possible reasons I might wear make-up all the time? Acne scars? Rosacea? Psoriasis? Burn scars? None of the above actually, but that is what I call judgemental, and the sort of attitude which lies at the root of the problems at the school gates. You mustn't have seen much in your life to find a bit of lippy and mascara 'astounding' lol.0

Can you not just live and let live? I don't know why people get so worked up ('astounded') about other people's morning routine. You don't wear make-up - great. I do - great. Whatever. But I am worth it0

I couldn't give a monkeys whether you wear make-up or not. I just find it astounding that you NEED to all the time.0

Have to say I've never worked out why people feel they need make up all the time.
I don't think it's a sign of insecurity, but I do think it means you feel it makes you look better, and that does say something about how you feel about yourself, doesn't it?
I don't get how make up is essential for looking smart - that comes mainly from cleanliness, hair, clothes, shoes and how we carry ourselves too.
I did kind of understand it a bit more when I dropped my dd at a friends house early one morning and a stranger answered the door!!! It was my friend with no make up!
I'd never really noticed she wore it, apart from a bit of mascara maybe, but I could certainly tell the difference when she didn't!
I wonder if years of wearing make up means you can't suddenly stop because it becomes 'you' iykwim?0 -
I always wear make up! Have done since I was 15-ish. I'm not insecure, I'm confidence. Just because I'm a mum does not mean I'm not me. Why does it bother most if a mum wears it or not.
Damned if we do, damned if we don't.0 -
wow, it really has turned into the school gates!0

I can't speak for anyone else, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I can't see why it would tbh!
I am genuinely interested in why some women feel they are scruffy and not making an effort if they don't wear it.0 -

Why does it have to be a "need"? I wear it because I want to, like to, nothing more, nothing less. Just like I like to dress smartly, have a good haircut and get my nails done.0
