Hi all,
Quick question. I have been looking at BT Infinity for a while and was wondering, do you have to pay line rental to BT or can you use another provider as long as it is a BT line?
Regards
Andy

Believe you have to have line rental with BT to have BT Infinity.
If you went with another supplier for the FTTC service (Infinity is just BT's brand name for it) then you might be able to have different ISP and line rental provider.0 -
BT Infinity are not the only supplier of high speed fibre broadband. Plusnet for example will supply a line and broadband over the FTTC network using BT's wholesale product.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

FTTC is increasingly available from ISP's reselling BT's wholesale product.
If you want Infinity, you must pay line rental to BT.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for the quick replies. The only reason I looked at BT is the unlimited usage. Plusnet have a monthly usage and I dont know how much data I use.0

Infinity is only unlimited on the most expensive package. The cheaper option has a ludicrous 40GB cap.
Suggest you measure your data usage for a month before you decide-loads of free software enables you to do that.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Do you happen to know of any for OS X Lion??
The only other problem I have is judging the amount of data my gaming uses as I can clock up some time on Xbox Live.0 -
Google Surplusmeter. No doubt there are others. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Another reason why I asked about the line rental with BT is due to an article on www.chooseisp.co.uk which states the following:
Add calls
To get BT Infinity you'll need to have a working phone line.
Get one of the plain BT infinity packages and that phone line can be with whoever you like. Take a '+ calls' deals and you'll get a small discount for sticking with BT for both services.
How small? Well, £2 a month compared with getting the same BT line rental and calls deal separately.
Every little helps but it's not much which, we assume, is why BT have knocked some cash off for the first 3 months too.
Any idea if this is true??0
