because what you said "you have regular customers and sort of go to their house on autopilot if you have a delivery on their road."
i am a driver(LGV) and i do not make this mistake even on autopilot
but its not about that ,
its my rant about a lapsy daisy van driver that cannot be A**** to do his\hers job,and had to pass the house they should have gone too(i can prove no DPD van came down my street at all,at any time in the day) and a poor customer service from a poor courier company

yes mistakes happen ,loses happen ,been late happens ,the list go's on but knowingly delivering to the wrong address except a neighbours house and a calling card saying that is very wrong and out of order

How many drops a day do you do?

The driver obviously didn't do it on purpose so its a mistake, not someone not being arsed to do their job properly.

You'll find all delivery/courier companies get the same complaints, DPD are no exception.

The wrong house number is bad enough but recently they tried to deliver my parcel to the wrong city. Didn't they check the postcode? Or city? Or even street name? The ironic thing is, the depot is ~3 miles from my house and it probably travelled 300 miles to the other city! The tracking said it was delivered there, but next day I get an email confirming my successful refund after 3 failed delivery attempts. Frrrufrhgir idiots!

We get parcels sent to our depot by mistake on a daily basis. Its usually because of them having the wrong postcode on which is used in generating its barcode which then is read by a scanner which decides its destination.
Towns aren't particularly creative with their choice of road names so the chances are, wherever it was sent had a street name the same as yours hence the attempts at delivery.Obviously the chances of the postcode being correct for that street are very slim, but then we often get parcels with the wrong postcode on so it wouldn't necessarily be noticed.

As a side note... why not get a (loud) door bell so you don't have to rely on CCTV...

Surely you can't have been watching the cameras every minute of the day so could easily miss someone with a parcel or a van? If hes doing multiple drops in the area he may grab more than one parcel and walk to the closeby addresses so the van may not even enter the street.....
why do i need a door bell when i am in all day,and the cctv cameras see the hole street and register any movement on the street and that only 10% of what the camera sees, the rest is looking at my car and drive ,its well with in the law and have signs up round the house.

i can only quote what the depo said to me and how many delivery i do in a day is down to my company ect ect ect ,

it boils down to some one lieing him or the company ,i would say the company ,it turned up by a different company which is fine by me and day or two late which i can live with,
Amazon fulfilled their contract and offered me a refund if i wanted it ,which i did not take up because the good where delivered in the end
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

What good do TV cameras do during periods when you are not looking at their output?

Relying on CCTV rather than a doorbell audible throughout the house is daft.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.
  • We had a £500 testing meter delivered a few weeks ago, it went awol from my house (middle of nowhere i live!!) When we finally got some answers the delivery man said "oh, i signed for it myself andf left!!" Disgraceful!!!!!!!!!!
The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea

it can prove that there was no delivery van that came down my street and thats better than saying ,no one rang my door bell that day,now prove that one,

normall evey day goings on i do not sit looking at them my door bell works fine, sets the dogs barking ,it can be days/weeks before i look and the cameras,
the real resson why i had the camera screen up was that i was looking at the activations because a neighbour had his car scratched a few night before ,

  • dpd are useless, they failed to turn up to my house a few times after saying they had left a card and no answer, when was sat in all day waiting for my new phone, that i couldnt collect from the deopt without the calling card!

Amazon have emailed me today saying they do pass all queries and feedback regarding the delivery companies over to the team who are responsible for sourcing them and take any issues seriously. Unfortunately they can't mark someones account with a "do not use X delivery company".

I know that answer is not really useful but it might be worth a strongly worded email to Amazon?

dpd have been one of the best for me to balance things

i like the hourly slot emails, and not had a late on yet, unlike yodel, ukmail et al

dpd delivery today due 12:10-13:10 arrived 12:16

meant I could go out this morning before hand and plan my day
