the item was purchased from a company (with over 41K positive feedback, sorry not over 47K as i made an error on my previous reply) on ebay advertised as a manufacturer's refurbished item. the company described the item was checked and tested by a qualified technician. the company did say the dehumidifier was manufacturer's refurbished and based on the ebay's bible, it means, 'An item that has been professionally restored to working order by a manufacturer-approved vendor. This means the product has been inspected, cleaned and repaired to meet manufacturer specifications and is in excellent condition.'

this may be how you purchased this, but when you sell it or sold it on, you could not state these facts as it does not apply to you. all you can sell it as unopened and untested and this is how Paypal would see it

hi there, thank you for your comment...

ok, let's see the whole thing in a different angle. let's say the dehumidifier 'was not working' like the buyer claims.

Q1. what is the idea behind when the buyer had the item for 3 weeks, then decided to report to me the machine was not working?

Q2. when the machine was returned back to me, water was found inside the water tank/drawer and the air filter. how did that happen?

Q3. the item was originally purchased as a gift from a company but then the person who is supposed to have this gift has already got a dehumidifier. so in your opinion, you would open the gift and test it first before you sell it to someone else? if so, how would you label the item? second hand even you only only the box to test the item?

the item was sold to me as a manufacturer's refurbished item, it may not sound as appealing as a brand new item, but at least i know it has been tested and checked by a qualified technician, not like a mass production that brand new items can only be checked and tested randomly.

furthermore, how do you see my point of view if the buyer is lying about the dehumidifier? at the end of the day, she has got her full money back plus having the item for 3 weeks (whether she used it or not, only she can tell!). she has lost nothing at all by telling a lie. Not even PayPal want to investigate her story at all.

hi there, thanks for your message...

i haven't tried the machine yet cos i am still waiting for further instruction from PayPal what to do with the machine. (after visiting a local police station and calling a regional police call centre)

besides, i had a quick look on the instruction manual (online version), it says the machine will only start operating when the humidity meets within the moist/damp range (30%-80%). my house is not damp at all, so even if i do decide to try the machine, the air in my house is not wet enough to activate the sensor... its just never easy! perhaps i shouldn't buy the machine in the first place, then i wouldn't have all these hassles now...

I see that your buyer has bought another de-humidifier from ebay.

Hmm - so perhaps it DID work but has sufficiently dehumidified her house (IE done it's job!) so that it no longer NEEDS to operate and therefore doesn't!

LOL - in hindsight perhaps you should have just told her that if it's not working, there's obviously no humidity for it to extract moisture from! ;)

hi there, thanks for your message...

based on what pimento has just mentioned above, the same buyer has also bought another dehumidifier from someone on ebay on the same day that she bought mine directly (not on ebay). what does that say about this buyer really??

furthermore, she has now received a full refund from PayPal (as she strongly demanded it from me), so i don't think she cares why my dehumidifier is no longer operating or not.

    It's on her feedback.
