As CueBruce says, the minimum delivery is 500l. The official regulations are here.
A more user-friendly version from the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers is here - with info on the Warm Front and similar grant schemes (see also here for size of grants, what the grants can cover, etc in England) - so maybe something for you here, catford? Good luck!
The minimum delivery regulations also apply to Northern Ireland so there shouldn't be..companys in NI that you can just ring and say can I have 250quids worth and they will deliver the amount in litres for that price......0 -
Theres companys in NI that you can just ring and say can I have 250quids worth and they will deliver the amount in litres for that price. Business is business and I dont see why a company would have a minimum of 500 litres, maybe 200 seems more reasonable especially if its local to them
Maybe residents of N.I are more apt to stand up and complain about getting a raw deal? and don't just bend over and take it up the tail pipe. Over here we tend to p*ss about far too much with online petitions and protest coffee mornings.Apparently it's due to Trading Standards legislation. So, the minimum legal amount for a delivery of 500 litres is a standard set by the weights and measures authority...
In a Country which is constantly promoting 'green' issues and taxing those who needlessly waste large scale resources, forcing people to buy 500 litres when 200 litres is more than enough for their requirement doesn't really make sense does it. Surely in the interests of saving our "valuable fossil fuel resources" (which the g'ment and greenies keep reminding us are dwindling), it should be possible to buy as little as 25 litres if only 25 litres is needed, not 'waste' the additional 475 litres that people are forced to buy, purely on some Trading Standards legislation??It's a nuisance...but given the costs of running a tanker/driver unit it also makes economic sense for companies
Caldo oils for example charge 84p a litre for Kero from their self service pump, and that price stays for however much you buy from that pump!, so if you bought 500 litres from the pump and took it home using your own transport, in your own containers it would still be 84p a litre, but buy 500 litres and have it delivered by tanker it would be < 60p a litre, despite their overheads being higher for this service as they have to employ a driver, pay for diesel, have a logistics team plan a route etc etc."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0 -
Have you seen the length of a delivery tanker's hose? If you order only 100 litres, a large proportion of it could end up in the hose and not in your tank.
It's also very environmentally unfriendly to have large vehicles driving to your property 4 times for 4 small deliveries when a single trip would do.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -

Not true... Delivery meter takes account of oil in the pipe, same as LPG deliveries.0 -
The hose of a delivery truck holds around 100 litres, but it is always full. If you could get a order less than 500 litres the delivery charge wouldn't make economical for the fuel company without charging you a fortune!!!
expect to pay £1 a litre i would guess - atleast
most companies allow you to collect smaller a mounts0
