The op should have INCLUDED insurance, not insisted.0 -
If the item is valued at over £46 then it is always the seller who takes the chance on not having enough insurance. A buyer will always be entitled to a full refund wherever they are if it doesn't arrive.
In this instance you don't stand to lose too much as the final selling price isn't that much above £46. Imagine if it had sold for 3 figures!
If you are selling items above £46 value then you should always consider listing the appropriate postage method that carries enough insurance to cover it regardless of where you are posting it to. If you don't want to take the hit on parcels over £46 going missing, don't offer standard postage on your listingIt may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type0 -
Refund but add a message about winning the war, 1966 etc.0

OP, as per the others the insurance is for your benefit not the buyers. Postage requirements for full paypal seller protection is here:

alos if buyer bought via the German site it definitely means your item was available for purchase overseas and that means your seller settings are not fully protected. Details here for future reference:

As soon as bidding ended they paid immediately ( they paid the uk p&p) and told me would also be enough for airmail and not paying more for insurance outside. Never even had chance to email invoice with insurance included.

You get insurance of £46 just with a certificate of posting, this is true of first, second class and international mail. So if you have your cop you are covered for that amount. Just because mail leaves the UK doesn't mean the insurance stops.0
