Hi Im sorry to be a pain again and bump this to the top of the list again. Yesterday my laptop was working fine with the battery in it and today I cant get it to boot at all with the battery in it or removed from it? Any ideas please?0

with the main battery removed, unplug from the mains and hold down the power-on button for 40 seconds. Then, plug into the mains, DON NOT refit the main battery, and try to switch it on again.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Sorry to be a nuisance again, I have got the recovery disks out and tried booting from them and the drive makes a noise but nothing is happening still a black screen. Does it sound like the laptop wont repair now? Think it will be easier if I chuck it now and pop out for a new one in the morning.0

At worst, you may have a hard drive failure-that hardly makes it necessary to 'chuck it now' and buy a new laptop! You would just need a new drive (if that is the case).
Did you change the boot order in the BIOS so that it boots from the recovery disk?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
remove power, keep battery out, insert power lead, switch on and report exactly what happens on screen, which lights come on etc.
which model of laptop?
try an external screen if you have one!!

Sorry was just getting frustrated with it now, im no good with computers dont have a clue what Im doing to be honest. I just thought as no one on this board seemed to know what it was then it was probably couldnt be fixed. I also asked on the Web User board and Toshiba board and no one could help unfortunately. Thinking about it I guess its a job to diagnose it without seeing it and Im so grateful to everyone thats taken time to read this thread and help me.
No I havent changed the boot order in BIOS I dont really know how to do it. Im just getting a black screen as soon as I power on. Its tried pressing all the F buttons tried Escape and control alt delete. I also left the disk in it pulled the plug out and tried powering on with the disc but nothing.0
