Hi my husband buys thomas cook vouchers through his work comes out of his wages every month and we get paper vouchers. Do you know how we stand with these should we use asap (we are saving for a florida holiday in a couple of years) or can we get refund. am slightly worried as we have about one thousand pounds worth.
many thanks
On the tv a financial advisor type guy suggested if you have vouchers you book a holiday asap. As if they go bust your vouchers are worthless. They said there would be a possibility you could get the money back, but probably months and months down the line. Whereas if youve booked your hol you should be entitled to a refund.0 -
Can anyone advise on the likely outcome on the following. Booked flights direct with TC using debit card for a group (8) going to Turkey. Have booked hotel etc with an abtaa/atol agent.
What would happen if TC were unable to arrange the flights - just to complicate the matter the plane TC had scheduled was from Mint who I believe are now bust themselves!! If no flights how are we placed with the hotel costs etc?
What a mess ... or is it??
You are still liable for the accommodation even if you no longer have flights as you have a contract with them and the accommodation would still be available for you to use.
You need Supplier Failure insurance or independent traveller travel insurance which covers consequential losses.
However one company which provides SFI temporarily suspended cover on TC flight only from Tuesday.

Oh dear, I have been keeping an eye on a Xmas holiday that is now starting to come back down in price again but now worried, not so much about them going bust as I doubt that will happen in the next 3 weeks but the crew strikes could? :-(0

I do believe Thomas Cook are sueing them over this, so we'll see who has the last laugh, and Quentin just who do you work for i thought it was Thomson but is it Ryanair until now i thought you were a serious money saver, now id take your advice with a pinch of salt. In these troubled times you'd want everyone to succeed and not be petty about the opposition, there's enough room for every one.0 -
yeah Steph, hope he doesnt have to put up with what TC staff have the past few days'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
