The vacuum stuff is good, provided you don't need the stuff in a hurry. It gets awfully wrinkled.

:( may not be such a great idea then. Not much point carefully putting away posh winter coats if it's going to result in dry cleaning bills... might just sort out material to cover current boxes instead.

Yeah, I can't say it was a great surprise. Apparently even walking 200 yards for 15 minutes is too much effort. Still, I don't actually care - will be focusing on people I do have something in common with - and really will just never make plans around him again. He also let down another friend and I was quite taken aback at the abruptness of the message on the friend's FB wall - the word 'sorry' is not included.

Have liberated a few summer things from the underbed boxes and am a bit taken aback at the number of polka dot dresses I already seem to have :rotfl: (interestingly, one of them is from the fab dress co I thought I'd newly discovered - they must sell to the boutique in town that I now have to avoid because I rarely leave without a new dress :o). Also found a couple of good pairs of wide leg trousers I'd forgotten I had, so the main things I think I need for summer are shoes/ sandals and I want a lightweight red coat. Am trying to only take out and iron the things I actually still like, on the principle that the rest can then be ebayed :rotfl:. I've hung onto stuff that I don't actually wear for a few years now and I think it's time I did some editing.

Right, bedtime, ready for all the nonsense tomorrow - but I will only be suffering 7.5 hours of nonsense and then escaping.

Rosa, personally I'd avoid the vacuum bags if you can - I got some but over time they lost their vacuum and everying started puffing up again (bedding) plus, I kinda think it's ok for bedding, but if it's clothes going into it, then unless you have really zero storage, it prob means you have too many clothes (not you personally, that was the 'you' in general) I'd think a covered box / case would be better if poss, then you don't have to faff re-vacuuming everything when you want to get something out.

That would definitately be a plan A. Plan B may be to get a bag later and actually try it.

Sounds like it would turn into a twinkly musing... ;)
Yeah, I can't say it was a great surprise. Apparently even walking 200 yards for 15 minutes is too much effort.

Yeah. Two hundred whole yards. That's over a tenth of a mile! A tenth!

Do you know how long that is?! That's round about 200 yards!!!
Still, I don't actually care - will be focusing on people I do have something in common with - and really will just never make plans around him again. He also let down another friend and I was quite taken aback at the abruptness of the message on the friend's FB wall - the word 'sorry' is not included.

    Pffffft .

I got up early and went into work an hour early this morning.

Now I should probably explain exactly how rare that is - it's, oooh, about as likely as putting sugar in your coffee and finding that a small passing random cyclone helpfully stirs it for you before swooping off leaving 'have a nice day' written in a trail of sugar crystals across your desk. I hardly ever get up on time, never mind early, mainly because I always wind up doing stuff and never getting to bed on time. So this was an Event. Even more so because I woke up feeling fab despite not sleeping much, and managed a cup of tea, breakfast, and taking lunch in before STILL getting to work an hour early. Crikey, it's quiet there at 8.30.

My motivation for this was that I'd get to come home at 4.30 and have time for allotment digging before project reading and a bubble bath. Did this happen? Did it fk. I left at 5.30 having spent the day juggling umpteen bits and knowing it simply isn't possible to get everything done without giving up at least one of my evenings this week. It took 45 minutes just from switching off the laptop to actually exit the office, by the time I'd listened to one person's latest personal saga, shown another how to write a paper I thought somebody else had already discussed with them and been waylaid by a third. My manager is on leave the whole week, not just today which I knew, and the only free day I had and needed to use for preparation has been shafted by a full day management training course which apparently I have to go to - woulda been helpful if they'd made it clear in the advance warning that this was a full day, not a two hour session - so I basically have to spend tomorrow night on the laptop. Plus of course I have no admin which though not remotely my fault, is getting me moaned at by the rest of the team. I am NOT HAPPY. I'm actually so bl**dy upset I am seriously considering just refusing to do the prep and stuff the fact that it won't be ready for the meeting, which is unheard of. Then again, nobody else appears to have done anything for this meeting as it appears the entire world has been on holiday for the last fortnight.

I had just managed to have not even a week off and feel like I had a life again, and as soon as I get into work I find I'm enabling other people to have a life instead. Again. It probably didn't help that a colleague called me over to ask about someone I used to know in a previous job, who will now be vaguely involved with us... it's one of those 'could have been' situations that never really got anywhere, but I didn't really need reminding of the lack of changes in my life since compared to his.

I did go to the allotment when I got back as I was too cross to do anything else - so stamping on a spade and cursing weeds was quite therapeutic. Have also had my bath and am about to sort out tea and some reading, but am not darn well touching the laptop because IT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

Have to be out early tomorrow as am in the city all day, but should be back at a reasonable time. Will try and think of something to compensate for extra work IF I decide to do it - and I will be taking all my extra hours back first thing next week.

See, had enough. Worm turned, mouse roared, etc. Am fed up of being taken advantage of, especially as it's not even by competent people who I can learn from. The place is such a mess at the minute even I can't convince myself that continuing to do things right will be noticed.,

    :mad::mad:

    *stomps off to sulk*

:o Sorry, I do know this rant must be getting v boring by now. Am not quite sure how I've managed to ignore all this for so long but guess at least now it is getting aired and sorted :rotfl:

Oh and I managed to finish my miniscule square of allotment and plant something in it, so progress has been achieved. Going to try and pop over every other day even if I only dig another tiny piece!

He did. It's even more abrupt than the text I got. The response is surprisingly polite but then I suppose so was mine, it just didn't seem worth starting rudeness when it's easier to ignore him. Mind you, I didn't volunteer to reschedule :D

Nope. If I didn't know that it was a consistent back story that's been going on for months, I'd suspect EastEnders highlights. But the poor lass really is just having a rotten time. I would normally be rather more sympathetic but I do try not to take my own issues to the office so it gets a bit frustrating to hear so much about someone else's. On the other hand, it's my own fault for listening sympathetically at the beginning instead of just brushing it off and rushing away. Guess I can't have it both ways.

I suspect that's what today's little reminder was designed to tell me. I suspect I missed some cues on that one and didn't take it seriously when it was actually meant seriously... so must try not to do that again.

Oh, he can just get knotted, simple as. Won't be contacting him and won't schedule anything around him again.

Have also realised that the shivering, sniffling and general Have Cold ness is probably not helping grumpiness level. So should probably take self off to bed with furry hot wheat bag (ask Kerri DFW, Z, before you go there) and tissues soaked in essential oils, and let's see if I can manage to wake up happy again.

Oh and on little happy notes, my skin is bizarrely clear, maybe the stress hormones have finally dropped; the trousers I found yesterday pull off without undoing them, so I think I must have lost weight since last summer; and it's pole class tomorrow. :)

Be calm. Sometimes they're genuine, sometimes they're not.

I won't even attempt to deterrmine which is which from this distance.
On the other hand, it's my own fault for listening sympathetically at the beginning instead of just brushing it off and rushing away. Guess I can't have it both ways.

Never EVER call it as a fault for listening sympathetically. It's hard. I truly know that, but it's hard to sit and judge that someone is genuine and someone is not. It's shitty, and I know it's shitty that you must judge the true from the untrue.
Thank yoooouu :A :kisses3: much appreciated

You're right, it's always better than erring on the suspicious side.

You can always decide later you were wrong and ditch them into the nearest river, where once you've dismissed someone, that's it. Even if they do nominally forgive you, things will never be the same.
You explained about your toothache and the brandy solution on Nora's thread, and I felt bad for moaning to you when you were in a worse state!

Well the brandy appeared to have worked, and I appear to have pickled something to such a degree, that it hasn't hurt anywhere near as much today.

I'm quite shocked how good the speeling and grandma came out, given I was typing with one finger and squinting at the screen with one eye.
