Debenhams - Not fulfilling Orders

Just had an email to say that Debenhams can not fulfil any of my recent orders over their discount weekend, it was up to 40% off plus a further 10% until Sunday. It was for a number of items, across childrens wear and kitchen accesories.
I find it really strange that they can't fulfil any of these items.
Do I have any rights in this? I ordered Sunday afternoon so it is over 48hrs later. I'm really annoyed as there were a number of bargains for Christmas presents.
Any advice would be appreciated (even if it is just no Debenhams don't have to fulfil orders once placed!)

I wondered this too. Same thing just happened to me. Rang up to ask why it couldn't be fulfilled when they're still for sale online (now at more that twice the price!). Said their website doesn't update and they haven't got any of the items left. Can I do anything?
Tempted to buy one at full price to see if they'll deliver it (then return it!).0 -
I know, I've just put all the items I ordered in my baseket tonight and none are out of stock - how can that work - advertise all these great deals, send many emails over the weekend, then not honour any!!!! Grrrr I'm mad!!!0

I had placed an order at weekend and phoned to query the "unable to fulfil" - it was the 40% discount that persuaded me to buy other items in the same order rather than shop around. Initially given same explanation as other posters - that website issue, but I was still unhappy and persisted. A supervisor came on who put the item through for me at the weekend discounted price.
Phone and query the "unable to fulfills" and persevere - strikes me that it's a bit of a tactic to avoid supplying deeply discounted items unless customers are miffed enough to complain!0 -

HI, i placed an order also and they sent me a conformation email then took the money from my bank account and then put the money back in, when i rang to ask what was happening i was told my order was cancelled but he said he would put them through again and charge me the same amount. when i told him all the items were showing as out of stock on there web site he said dont worry thats not correct and they had all the items in there warehouse? so i placed the same order again over the phone so it is worth giving them a call.0 -
Thank you both for responding. I haven't had time today to update, but I did the same this morning, they honoured the price and had everything in stock, funny hey?!?!? What I suspected. Really annoyed with Debenhams, why do they advertise all these discounts and then have issues honouring them? I was put through to call centre and it took >15mins and when I got confirmation email it was againt my old address, we moved >12months ago!!!!! Ggggrrrrrr, so another 15min phonecall and explained everything for the 2nd time, got approval from their manager again and it is sorted, just don't think this is meant to be until I get the goods in my hands!!!0

same thing happened to me - but instead of phoning them I simply took my business elsewhere! Debenhams loss - as i won't be falling for their tactics again!:mad:0

Update - My husband has just phoned debenhams again in light of this e-mail trail. This time was told they had a system failure over the weekend and many orders were cancelled when they shouldn't have been. Camera I ordered now in stock and he honoured sale price without a quibble.
Fingers crossed it arrives now!!0 -

I would have liked to have taken this option, however I really wanted the items at the price originally paid and it would have cost me a lot more to shop elsewhere. Will seriously consider in future though.0 -
Me too. I ordered a number of things on-line as soon as the sale started. Out of all the things I have ordered, they are not sending me the biggest discounted items and it just happens to be the ones I really want.
They basically took my money and then sent me an e-mail the other day saying my order would be late and now they have sent me an e-mail cancelling 3 of my items. Totally out of order!
I'm just about to call them so will post how I get on.0
