NatWest Visa Debit Cards Payment Protection

Does anyone know if A NatWest debit Card offers the same payment protection as a Credit Card. Our particular concern is when booking a holiday costing more than £100 and the there is a problem or company goes into Administration will be protected. As usual many travel companies charge over 2% charge on all payment made which we are trying to avoid as it is an expensive holiday and would prefer to pay by debit card for which there is no charge. Any information would be appreciated

Yes, the Visa debit card provides a similar level of protection as the Visa credit card.

Any disputes are processed via "Chargebacks" and must be taken up with the bank itself.

It does not provide any cover under S75 of the Consumer credit act for a start.
I feel your post is misleading.

Not strictly true, there is no Section 75 cover for Visa Debit card purchases. Only Visa Chargeback disputes procedures.

It does not - that is very misleading. Rather worrying considering you apparently work for Natwest :(

Busted!! Sorry guys, I only hear bits of conversations here and there! :p

On a more serious note, just because it does not cover payments under section 4583583757232377 of the Consumer Credit Act does not mean there are no other means of getting your money back if anything was to happen.

    Quoted from the Natwest website:
What increased purchase protection does Visa Debit offer me?

If you pay for goods or services with your Visa Debit card and they fail to arrive or are damaged when you receive them, we could help recover your payment. This may include companies that have gone into administration before you have received the goods or services. To take advantage of this you must have contacted the retailer directly to try and resolve the issue and been unsuccessful. If this does happen to you please contact your branch or call 0845 366 0452 and our dedicated team will be able to help.

    I win? ;)

No, you lose. That quote refers to Visa Chargebacks which we have already mentioned. Stick to the bits you know :rotfl:

Visa Chargebacks address the OPs concerns regarding goods not received/businesses gone into administration.

Purchase protection is in place, it just doesn't refer to section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act and is processed differently.
