Hi nikky, I can't believe you've read the whole diary, well done to you for that!
Thanks for your kind comments, it's been a long road getting debt free, and we probably face an even longer road to becoming mortgage free, but at least we're well used to the routine now.
Good luck with your debt busting xx0 -
DH is working late tonight and Ds is in bed, so it's just me, a spoon and a tub of ice cream for company that I found in the freezer! My excuse is that we're trying to use everything in the freezer up in time for the move :0)
Tonight, I've completed the order I received in the week. It's all packaged and ready to send off. I've even done some ironing!!!
Off to peruse the mortgage free diaries now...0 -
I paid the 2 x mobile contracts off yesterday, well, gave the obligatory month's notice to do so. That'll be £56 a month more in our bank balance every month which will help quite a bit.
A couple more bags off to the charity shop today. I could probably ebay quite a lot of it but don't have the time or inclination to do so at the moment and I probably wouldn't make a fortune on it anyway.0 -
Another item sold for £10 locally and someone coming to view the large piece of furniture we currently have advertised for £200. Hope we sell it as really don't want to move it!0

I had a few offers on the large item listed on ebay last night, but all too low. Someone else is wants it for £180 which I'll agree to as cash on pick up as it avoids the nasty ebay and paypal fees then. Just waiting for them to get back to me.
We're doing really well on using up the food in the freezer & cupboards. Last night we had roast chicken, with lots left over to make a moroccan chicken dish tonight. I'm loving the meal planning and findiing it really liberating not to keep running to supermarkets to buy stuff or doing a big shop every week. I'm hoping we can keep this up when we move.
Need to book a van today for the big move. We're shifting everything ourselves as removals firms were too pricey. Should be fun eh?!0 -
Large item sold for £180, being picked up Sunday.
Just completed a survey for another £3 in the paypal account.0 -
Tonight I made a huge bread and butter pudding and a rhubarb crumble, all from ingredients we had in the cupboard or freezer. They're both now portioned up and ready for the freezer (minus a little we sneaked tonight!).
I've done a bit more packing tonight and have turned out a couple more items for the charity shop. I really can't wait to move now, I've had enough of living in limbo now.0 -
So.... I've hit the button, we're now debt free. No more loans, no more credit cards. Just a £66250 mortgage to pay off now!
As others have said, it's a bit of an anti climax really. The marching band have yet to appear in our lounge and hubby hasn't looked up from what he is doing, but it's done just the same.
To me, it doesn't feel like we're debt free at all because of the mortgage. We'll be doing our best to overpay that and become mortgage free as quickly as possible, but in the meantime, we also need to save for a car as we're not sure how long ours is going to last. We also want to convert the new garage as soon as we can, so there will be 2 savings pots on the go too.
I guess here's to a whole new chapter on our journey... Wish us luck!0 -
That's great news that you are debt free :T. You have really come a long way on your debt-free journey and should be very proud.
As you say, a mortgage isn't quite the same though, when I had one, I also was keen to pay it off as soon as possible so I know where you are coming from.
Anyway, the move is first. I'm surprised you have any furniture left given that number of things you have sold. Of course, you won't be agreeing when you move yourself to the new place! There are so many steps up to my current flat, I think I nearly finished off one of my removal men when I came here and I really don't have much stuff.
It will be great to get settled in your new place. I am excited for you. Only a couple of weeks to go.
Best wishes xMortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000
Now: £173,2290 -
Thanks Chocs, and thank you so much for your support along the way, it has been such a help xx0
