  • Wow, that's a great amount to achieve in one morning.

I realised that it was your DS birthday recently. Did you all have a nice day?

I have been at home today; a day off from work because it has been a tough few weeks and I have waited in for a delivery which came about half an hour ago.

I have no energy or motivation for things at the moment. I'm not depressed or anything. I think I am lacking a project :D. On that note, there have been a few houses come up for sale in the last few weeks so I went to see a mortgage adviser yesterday to get a mortgage application certificate. I am all ready for when the elusive property comes up :) I think my money focus will quickly come back if I borrow the amount I was asking for yesterday :rotfl:

  • Hi Chocs

Yes, DS was 2! Hard to believe isn't it?! We had a lovely time, thanks. The three of us got a really cheap break at a place just an hour away from us, which has lots of activities, a pool and play stuff for little ones and went away for a few days. It was just the break we needed. My parents came up for a few days after that and my Mum was really well for the entire few days which was wonderful as it rarely happens like that these days.

Enjoy your day at home today, even though waiting for deliveries is rarely a pleasurable past time. I was hoping something I'd ordered would come this morning whilst I was at home, but to no avail. It probably arrived just as I left the street for work!

If it's a project you want, I can offer (working) holidays to my part of the world - our entire house needs decorating and the garden needs some attention! :rotfl:

Exciting, that a new home is on the horizon, even though it may involve selling a body part to pay for. I'm sure it'll be worth it though. I have been looking (and dreaming) at larger houses online lately. Our house feels so small lately, as Ds is getting older. Ours is a new build so the rooms are relatively small and storage is pretty non-existent. I keep going through the cupboards we do have and being brutal about getting rid of things we no longer want/need, but it doesn't seem to feel any more spacious!
Today I gave a large square leather beanbag/pouffe thing to a lady in work who doesn't have a lot. It was taking up room in our lounge and we never used it and she was glad of it, so that's a nice bit of space freed.

I hope the dream house comes along very soon at the right price :)

  • Just checked ebay and item 2. is now up to £102 :) It was at £60 when I last checked this morning! :)

Now I just need item 1 to sell. It is being posted off for a repair on Tuesday, so will photograph and list it when it is returned.

Quidco paid me £7.87 in the last couple of days. Would love to pay it straight of the CC, but the bank account only has pennies in it at the moment (not overdrawn though!), so will leave it in there.

We need a new raincover for Ds's pushchair which are £33! I had £32 on my boots card and could buy it from there with my points, so yesterday went to boots and bought some vitamins and baby nurofen to boost my points so I'd have enough. I've just gone to order it and, just my luck, it's out of stock for at least 2 weeks.:mad::mad: Looks like I'll have to get it somewhere else and actually pay for it, as we can't dodge the rain much longer.
  • Heard back from no-show lady regarding her not showing up to view item 1. Her response 'No, I don't want it anymore', - no, 'sorry for wasting your time/not letting you know). When I said it would be nice to have known on Thursday instead of waiting in for her pre-arranged, timed, appointment - 'Oh, I didn't think you'd wait in'. Where do these people come from?!:mad::mad:
  • It is unbelievable how inconsiderate some people are. I suppose her response means that if you had arranged to pick something up from her, she wouldn't think twice about going out at the scheduled time if it suited her.

£33 is such a lot for a raincover. These companies selling products for babies and toddlers just take advantage, don't they?

I think I'll decline the gardening and decorating job, thanks ;). I have no talent for either, I'm afraid. If there is one thing I learned at the previous flat I lived in, it was a false economy when I attempted DIY :o.

  • Ah, shame about the 'holiday' Chocs!

Yes, £33 is absolutely extortionate. I think I'll check whether an old one we have at home will stretch to fit for now and wait until it comes back into stock in Boots. Hopefully it will at some point and it's not discontinued.

A £13.99 refund from Amazon paid back to the credit card, so total CC debt balance now stands at £4683.77. Yikes. We'll get it down in time though, a bit at a time.
Once the house insurance is paid for at the end of March, I am cutting the remaining card up. We'll just have to manage without it.
  • Just Ds and myself to entertain this weekend as DH is working all weekend. :( We've had a lovely morning though so far as we went out nice and early, to a stunning country park and manor house which is about 15 mins drive from us. There's a few kids play areas there as well as lots of farm animals, so Ds always loves going there. The only cost was for parking/entry which was £3.90, not bad for a lovely few hours walking. We even saw lots of wild deer up close :0)

Ds is napping now so cuppa and feet up time for me for a bit. I don't really have many jobs to do after my blitz yesterday, in fact, I'm a little bit bored now! Will go on a job-hunt around the house in a wee while.

We're all tired today as Ds was up at 2am with a temperature. A dose of baby nurofen seemed to settle him after an hour, but DH and I couldn't get back to sleep. I finally got up at 4am and re-organised the dining room furniture to make some more space!
I also wrapped a BIN item I sold on eBay last night for £10, so will probably post that on Monday now along with a couple of parcels to return.
I finally got to sleep around 5.30am for Ds to wake at 6.30am! Oh well, I've had much less sleep before now.

This afternoon we'll try and get out somewhere for a bit and make the most of the dry weather whilst it lasts!

    Have a good weekend all

  • I hope you had a nice afternoon and managed to stay awake :D

I can't remember how much I told you about my running (or lack of) last year. I know I said about entering the London Marathon and I found out in October that I did not get a place in the ballot. Which was just as well because from starting training in July up until Christmas, I spent more time injured than I did running so I didn't make a lot of progress at all.

I started up again in January. This time, I am not running so often. Due to a genetic condition, I am susceptible to soft tissue damage and I think trying to follow a training programme involving running 5 days a week (which seems to be the norm with running ) was too much. So I am only going out 2 or 3 times a week and hopefully this will give my body more chance to recover and I will be able to continue training. I am trying very hard to be patient in terms of seeing the results of my efforts ;)

I went to a parkrun this morning so did my 5km of exercise. I collected enough points on SB for a £25 Amazon voucher so cashed that in. And I have listed one item on Amazon. This appears a pathetic list of achievements compared to yours but given my recent apathy, I am quite pleased I have at least done something :rotfl:

  • Well done with the running chocs, it's never easy to jump back into something like running, after a break. I guess the best way forward is to build up slowly as you are doing. The last thing you want is another injury.
About 5 years ago, I followed a running plan for a year and ran a half marathon for charity. Unfortunately I never found it easy or enjoyable and it's not something I even grew good at, so I think my running days are firmly in the past! I do envy those that are good at it and love to do it too.

Well done on the SB voucher too. I've never got into that to be honest, but maybe I should look into it...
  • Woo hoo, raincover is back in stock, so I've purchased it with my boots points. ;)
