  • Great thinking!

Well, thankfully another £200 has been knocked off the credit card. :j it was a long standing that I wasn't sure if I could cancel, but thankfully, I have been able to. :j

Off to update the signature now...
  • Just counted up all the change in our sealed tin and we had another £50 on there (plus a little loose change) on top of the £65 we previously banked a couple of months ago. :) £21 has been given to hubby for his Christmas do with work as he probably wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. £4 is owed to a friend at work as previously mentioned. The remaining £25, along with the £15 from the printer will be paid off the credit card, bringing the total under £1200 now.

The pot has already been sealed again and has the loose change thrown back in towards next year's total.
  • Just checked the CC balance as paid off that extra £40 plus the £100 monthly payment as Hubbys wages have just cleared in the joint bank account. Got the balance wrong again, but this time in our favour!
Balance is actually £1109.95. Not long until it's under £1K again.

    Hi DFSD

    How are things with you?

Nothing terribly exciting to report here. I still haven't done my Christmas shopping or written any cards. I really must do something about the cards soon so I don't have to send them first class. The shops are really busy at the moment so I think I will wait another week because then all the organised people will have finished their shopping and it will calm down (but I will still be there before the men doing the last minute Christmas Eve dash). The shops near me are open until 10pm each evening so there is plenty of time yet!

My credit card bill came today. It is £850 - eek! I felt slightly better when I realised that £380 was the treat I mentioned which is coming out of a different pot of money to my current account. Although it sounds ridiculous, there is nothing else major on the statement to show for the remaining £470, just my monthly rail season ticket, some groceries, bits of clothing, computer anti-virus software etc. Scary how it all adds up.

I selected 4 MSs this week which extracted no relevant information whatsoever! I imagine marketing people sitting in an office thinking of how a MS scenario might play out in an ideal world which gives them the information they desire. What they don't seem to bank on are things not going to plan and, if they script the scenario in too much detail, sometimes there is no way to naturally recover the position and get the information the sponsor wants. At least the visits are quick. And someone is paying me for this nonsense.

I have quite a few nights out planned at the moment, the usual Christmas events plus quite a few concerts etc. I don't feel like I have been out that much over recent months and I love music so it makes a nice change to be out and about.

I seem to have said a lot about nothing tonight! I hope DS is OK and you are both getting some sleep.

    Best wishes x

  • Hi Chocs and everyone else x

I've been very slack and not kept the diary up for a few weeks now. No real excuses, just busy and tired - as usual!

Unfortunately our CC balance has gone up too, so I know how you feel Chocs. Ours is not by a small amount either, but by a few hundred £'s. We just seem to run out of money before we run out of month at the moment. I'm not dwelling on it too much, but trying to accept that the balance will go up and down for the next couple of years until the loan is paid of and we can throw bigger chunks of money at it. Today hubby is paying £130 into the bank from the sale of some furniture, which will go towards paying off a bit of the balance. I'll update the total in my signature again soon, it won't be pretty.

I have over-bought for hubby this year, but found something which was perfect for him. I think, however, I may save the 'extra' couple of gifts for his birthday in the summer.

Christmas gift buying is now done and most items are wrapped and ready to go. I've even done most of the cards this year, notoriously, a job I hate doing! It seems I am ready for Christmas!!!

    Card balance now £1555.17. Yikes.:mad::(
  • I've spent most of tonight playing through £10 on a bingo site which has £40 CB offer when you wager £10. All done, no extra money up, but will await the £40 in a few months. :) We have £90 tracked on Quidco, without this extra £40, so that will be a nice extra payment on the CC when it comes through.

I have also tried to catch up with some surveys, but, as usual, got screened out.

Off to pack lunches for tomorrow and sort Ds's nursery bag.

Have a good evening all, hope it's nicer where you are - the weather is shocking here!
  • You have to love quidco dont you...i am waiting on £70 cashback to be paid for home insurance. Do you use shop and scan...it is really easy money in comparison to those bl**dy surveys that always screen you out after 20 mins

  • Hi WABL,

No, I've applied for shop and scan but have never been 'invited' to join unfortunately. :(

I've just bought a little birthday present for next year for £2.99 instead of £7.99 with a voucher from the deals board. :)
