I don't know what you are ebaying but having psyched myself up and taken the pictures, I have seen the prices similar items are fetching (and that is if they sell at all) are so low compared to usual. Think it will have to wait until later in the year as mine are gift type items and I don't want them to go for a pittance.

  • VERY jealous of your evening at the Olympics Chocs, what a night to go, too! I bet the atmosphere was amazing, hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for the advice too and for your thoughts, it's always good to look at the situation from 'the outside' if you know what I mean. Sometimes we can get too wrapped up in it. I think you're right, we do need to try and enjoy life more at the moment instead of thinking life can only 'start' once we are debt free.

I know what you mean about ebay. I've done the same in the past - got excited about some lovely items to list, only to find they don't sell for much at all. May be best to leave them until nearer Christmas like you said. I've started to gather a pile of stuff together for ebay, I just need to sort through DS's 'too small' clothes. Think I'll wait until Sept/Oct to list anything though as a lot of it is more wintry items.
  • I've listed the playpen for sale this morning, although have priced it at the higher end of what I'd like to get for it, so may end up lowering the price a little if it doesn't sell immediately. Worth a try though!
  • Have listed one other item for sale locally, and entered some competitions online for half an hour or so. I was once quite lucky when I used to enter lots, so I should really start entering more as and when I get chance.
  • Your doing great DFSD..i wish i had your motivation for ebay!!

  • Thanks WABL. It's a love hate relationship with myself and ebay... I love the money it can bring in, but hate the process!
  • I just had an interesting phone call from one of the nicest customers I deal with at work. He called about some work I'd done for him but then threw in 'hey, we're looking to recruit a part time position soon, it's a shame you can't come and work for us!'
It's a completely different career/job path than what I do presently, but it would certainly be interesting and maybe the change I need. He was surprised when I asked for more details, but did mention that evening and weekend work would be required, which may be a problem, logistically.
  • Its always good to keep your options open DFSD. My husband was really unhappy in his job that he had worked in for 6 years, the main problem being that his boss was a complete !!!!.
He happenend to be talking to a guy in a similar field who mentioned that his boss was looking for somebody to cover the area where we live and gave my OH his email address.
Half heartedly we drafted an email together that evening thinking that it was pie in the sky. The boss phoned him within the hour and wanted to meet him the next day and offered him the job. It was all completely unexpected and he has never been happier :j

As WABL says, exciting news about the job opportunity. Evening and weekend working may not be so bad if at least some of it can be done at home and they can be flexible on timing. Even if you decide not to pursue it, it can be good for motivation at the existing job if you positively decide not to take up the offer ;).

Having given up on ebay, I put a couple of books on Amazon. Nothing amazing but would be good to get them out of the house and get a few pounds for doing so.

  • Great story about your OH's job WABL, it's always nice to hear a positive story and of someone who is happy in their work.

Unfortunately the evening and weekend work won't be able to be done at home, but if we can work it around hubby being home to look after DS, then it may be a possibility. I have my doubts that the salary offered will be anywhere near what I'm on now though, unfortunately.
