High O2 bill. Need help negotiating

Hi guys!

I am on a sim only monthly rolling contract of 20 quid a month on O2 which gives me 600 minutes. Today I got a bill of £69!! I checked my calls and saw that I went 4 hours of calls above my monthly allowance. That was quite suprising to me as I never go above my allowance.Moreover, I expected that O2 would inform me somehow if my allowance finishes for that month, which they didnt. I would like to negotiate this bill and was wondering how to do it. Any suggestions?
Also, I have been their customer for more than 2 years and also have their broadband. Can I possibly use this for negotiating?

    You were surprised you went 40% over your contract allowance? You can't be surprised...bill needs to be paid I am afraid...

    Generally negotiations take place before a contract is signed and as such you will find it hard to renegotiate. Also negotiations normally involve two parties, in this negotiation there is only one. Wouldnt call this negotiating more like pleading. And very likely to fail.

    Anything can be 'negotiated'. But you don't really have an basis for argument other than their goodwill. Which on a £20 SIM only contract will not be forthcoming.

    It's up to you to monitor your own usage-that's why the phone comes with a counter for that purpose.

    only when roaming, and then only in the EU and only on Data usage.

    Anything else is your responsibility.

    By "negotiate", I assume you mean get them to waive the charges or at the very least reduce them.

    Can you imagine the precedent this would set if they agreed to this on the basis that you simply went over your allowance and couldn't be bothered to keep track of your usage!

    You agreed to the contract so pay up, in future, keep an eye on your usage, it's your responsibility!!
