Im so annoyed with Lloyds right now!

Yesterday they sent me the text to tell me my available balance was only £8.82...I had to order a birthday card and a lil something so used my "available balance" which i also checked using my internet banking

Today i get a text to say im on or over my limit...

I log onto my banking app and see on there im now minus -£10.19...

This is not from payments i made yesterday!!! So now im going to get a charge because the information given about my available balance was incorrect and as im at work 6-6 and can't go to the bank by 15.30!!

How is this fair??

Sounds like you had some more card payments processed overnight/today.

Have you spent anything recently that you'd forgotten about?
  • Nothing that i didn't think was already accounted for in my "available balance" since my DRO ive been trying to keep my head on top of what i have and what i dont so im really annoyed that lloyds haven't kept the available balance upto date, to the point they text me to tell me i had an available balance and not a nil balance

Also this is a basic account with no overdraft facility so why were these debit payments allowed to be made if funds were not available.....

Fortunately, your bank has moved on from the 1950's and now can be accessed by telephone. Their telephone lines are actually open 24/7 too, accordiong to their website.

However I do see you have the benefit of a mobile phone too. Amazing arn't they? They can be used whilst you are mobile ... like at work, on the way to/from work, etc ;)

Now I see you claim to work a 12 hour shift.
Perhaps get some advice from the CAB over legal working hours because EU legislation says you must not work over 48 hours per week on average (however their is a UK opt out, but your employer cannot force you to opt out) so on that basis you probably have 1 weekday a week free :)

Even if not, you would be entitled to statutory breaks during those 12 hour shifts ... just the opportunity to use that mobile phone :)

You see, with a little thought, there are many ways around life's little difficulties ... :)

Because YOU authorised the payment of money you don't have.

Still at least the recipient will get their birthday card ... and the lil something too you bought them despite not having the funds to do so. :)

Unfortunately life isn't as simple as you like to claim.....

Why would i need to use my mobile phone to ring an 0845 number which will cost me the earth, when i have a text service from them, an internet banking account and a free app.....which unfortunately lloyds is at fault for giving the wrong information from, this is not my fault that the ways in which they allow us to check our accounts doesn't work correctly! And to add...this was not made aware to me until I find out today again by text from them that my account is now in a minus....this would not have happened had they displayed my account correctly, and also if they had not allowed a basic non overdraft account to go into the minus...isn't that the point of a debit card and account-that you can only spend what you have?!

As you stated...the opt out comes in to play! Again life isn't as simple as you claim! Over the course of a month my average week is 47 hours...this does not mean that my week is worked as 47 hours each week! I work 1 in 3 weekends, this means once every 3 weeks I work a 9 day straight without a day off! I do not get a day off in the week as you claim "i probably have 1 weekday free a week" - not the case!

And breaks...in my job my break is taken at my desk, im not in a position to leave the premesis so again...not a possibility

What i dont agree with is the fact that my bank offer all these ways to keep a check on your account, but then give you the wrong information, and allow you to spend more than you "actually" have available, and then charge me for the priviledge of there mistakes!

of course...the bank haven't done their job have they so its MY fault they inform me i have money available

THE BANK AUTHORISED THE PAYMENT ALTHOUGH FUNDS WERE NOT AVAILABLE!!!! (against the knowledge provided from the bank telling me it was!! I would not have used this account had i known there wasn't funds available would i!!!!)

Go elsewhere if your not prepared to be helpful!!!!

  • I have this old fashion app type thing.

It's called pad and pen. On payday I write down my balance. Then I deduct my direct debits from the old balance to give me a new balance. This is the amount of money I have left until next payday.

Then I work out how much cash I need for car parking, school lunches, birthdays etc. For the rest of pay period. And then I withdraw it and keep it safe. Finally I record this transaction in my pad.

I then write down every transaction as it happens. Every few days I check my account against my pad.

I don't need to rely on anyone except myself. I always know what my balance is and how much I have left to spend.
Blaming the banks and your work schedule is a poor excuse for your own mismanagement.

So are you telling me you have never contacted ya bank to see if you have anything available for something that has slipped your mind?

Give over! I wish I'd never posted if all im going to get is replies like this that are no help with people who just do not understand what has been posted instead lets all jump on the bandwagon and turn it round! Do you all work for Lloyds or something?

And to add: this wasn't about my personal circumstances this was about the failure on the banks behalf to authorise a payment by a debit card that obviously should not have gone out!!! The payment should have been declined!!!!

There were funds available at the time you received the text.

Something has been processed overnight which has affected your balance today.

Probably best to find out what it was before throwing accusations around about LTSB not giving the correct information. Can you access your account on your mobile (sounds like you have a fancy one)? Or perhaps your employer would let you use their phone/internet access to check?

Just a thought...how are you accessing the internet now? Just use that to look online at your recent transactions.

As stated above...i checked both on internet banking and on phone app and by the text they gave me!

Available balance is just that...an AVAILABLE balance, the current balance was obviously different to this because of the payments made from the account, what i am annoyed about is the bank yesterday during the day with 3 different forms of checking the account all stated the same! After i made my birthday card purchase the available balance reflected this straight away so i knew exactly to the pence what was left! Because this is a debit card account the available balance is updated instantly, so what i fail to understand is how this can change over night when no further payments over the figure of the available balance were made...

    I hope that makes sense!
